28 | OHCC LIVING | FEBRUARY 2020 | Woodchucks So, how much wood can a Woodchuck chuck? We are uncertain of that, but we do know how very successful the 2019 OHCC toy drive for Camp Pendleton was. Here is the proof: • We proudly report that over 500 toys were built. • The Sewing Club made countless blankets and holiday stockings. • OHCC neighbors gave four truckloads of bikes, games, dolls, misc. toys. • There were 50 donated gift cards for the older kids. • The Community gave $1,525 to the YMCA Armed Services Fund. • The Woodchuck raffle and auction raised $1,220. • The Woodchucks gave a check for $2,700 to the YMCA Armed Services. • We all shared in the joys of giving. The Woodchucks have a history of serving the community. We build window security rods and wheelchair ramps for those in need. This year, we have a new project. There was an old armoire in the Music Room that has been renovated and re-purposed as a display cabinet in the soon-to-be- decorated Grand Galleria. There is Murph Haugen performing Woodchuck magic on the armoire. OHCC artists will be able to display their jewelry, papercraft, sewing, and art in grand style. The Club has also volunteered to make a furniture-quality brochure rack, some bulletin boards, and poster displays. Stay tuned! The enthusiasm for the Woodchucks at Do Dues Day was gratifying as we increased the number of Woodchucks and Woodchicks. Be safe. Clean up. Keep smiling. Art Lovers At our Feb. 18 meeting members will share with the group some of their favorite treasures, whether old or new. This is always an interesting meeting. So, get out that old photo, painting, teapot, or necklace and share its story. It's fun! We love to hear the stories behind these treasured items. If you wish to present your treasure please contact Paula Doss at (858) 220-0246. The meeting will take place on Tues., Feb. 18 at 1 pm in the Mykonos Room. Come early at 12:30 pm to enjoy the refreshments. If you haven't already renewed your $10 membership, you may bring your check, payable to OH Art Lovers Club, to the meeting. If you would like to join our club you may do so at the meeting. Of course, you can always bring your check to the front desk at the Clubhouse.
