March was originally the very first month of the Roman Calendar. The grips of winter were ending, and a new season of life was beginning with the new growth of spring. It is as true now as it was back then and a good time to take a fresh look at our community. The message this month is about Communication. Each of us wants to be informed and able to know and understand what happens in our community. The Board takes this responsibility very seriously. There are several ways that information is communicated: Electronic board in The Lodge, the Hemet Herald magazine, and email blasts, such as the Friday Weekly Reminder. In addition to these forms of communication, there is the monthly open Board meeting, usually the fourth Wednesday of each month at 1 pm in the ballroom. Unfortunately, the attendance at these meetings is usually very low, yet this is where community business is discussed. Any resident can speak on almost any subject, and each committee gives a report on what they are doing. There is no better way to find out what is being done to improve our landscape, how your dues are being spent, what social events are planned, what is new in the Bistro and the library, etc. A good example of the importance of good communication concerns the blackout on Thursday, January 23, which affected much of Four Seasons. We learned that it is difficult to know how long a power outage will last and that providing accurate information is important. The Emergency Preparedness Committee has followed up with information to our residents that will help everyone to be prepared for a similar event or worse. One final note: At times, we can be frustrated or upset about something that happens in our community. It is natural to express our feelings verbally and want some action taken or questions answered. The most effective way to communicate this is to put your concern in writing and provide as much detail as possible. The front desk has forms that can be filled out. By doing this, your concern or question will be reviewed, and you will receive a reply. See you at the next Board meeting. Message from the Board of Directors 2 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | March 2020 | Sincerely, and on behalf of your Board of Directors, Jim Hatcher, Tony Criscenti, Gene Hikel, Ken Pounders, Cliff Post, and Greg Rockvam Jim Crase Vice-President
