FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2020 55 Bridge For Fun Our Bridge for Fun group had our first potluck of the year in February. It was hosted by our club Captain, Verina Rector, and her husband Robert at their home. The club provided burgers and hot dogs and we all brought a delicious dish. Thanks to Carroll Oliver we had some pretty hilarious games that we enjoyed. You can tell from our picture that we all are having a great time! We really do have a fantastic group of bridge players that do enjoy getting together whether at the bridge table or over some great food and of course beer and wine. As the only party bridge group here at Four Seasons, if you have an interest in playing or in learning the game, we meet at noon on Wednesday in the Game Room. For more information contact Verina Rector at (951) 769- 1687. ~ Tom Halley Three Thirteen 20,000 Canasta Three Thirteen is played in 11 rounds and players meld, using sets and runs of at least three cards. The player to lay all cards down first receives no points. The remaining players then lay down their cards, either on the first player's cards or their own. Each round uses a progressive wild card, from 3s to Kings. Remembering what wild card is in play for a particular round is possibly the most difficult part of the game. The lowest score wins. Everyone is welcome and we always have a learner's table, if needed. We play at The Lodge Game Room from 3 to 5 pm on the first and third Tuesdays of the month. This month that will be March 3 and 17. If you have questions or want to receive email reminders, contact Mike at micedcor1@gmail.com. ~ Mike Corbett We hope those of you who joined us to play 20,000 Canasta last month enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed that you came. Please join us again this month and bring a friend. We play the first and third Fridays of each month from 1 to 4 pm. If you never played 20,000 Canasta we can set up a teaching table. Hope to see you there. ~ Leona Davisson, (951) 489-7745 Duplicate Bridge For Fun The Duplicate for Fun group will now be meeting on Wednesdays at 6 pm in the RCN. The idea is to have a friendly environment to enjoy the best form of the game as occurs at other senior communities. As always, send an email to me if you're interested in discussion of duplicate bridge activity or would like to learn to improve your game, or are interested in duplicate bridge at Four Seasons at Beaumont. ~ Kirk Freyermuth, kafreyer@ frontier.com Dominoes We held the quarterly domino playoffs for the personalized trophy in January. Dewey Allen defeated all of the other players and won the trophy. Vernon Bell, the last winner, surrendered the trophy to Dewey. Congratulations to all of the players who participated in the tournament. The next playoff for the trophy will be in March. In our January domino battle for the monthly championship, Vernon Bell was the champ. Vernon finished with an 18-game win in a close contest with Dale Weekley, who won 17 games. Great playing by both guys. Dominoes are played Wednesdays and Fridays from 5 to 9 pm in The Lodge Game Room. Practice is from 5 to 6 pm on both days. Come out and join us… have some fun and make some new friends. If you are a little rusty and need to brush up and practice dominoes, stop by. Jesse Dimmer is usually available to help you with that on Wednesdays and Fridays. For more information, call Jesse at (951) 769-2035 or Reggie at (951) 743-3584. ~ Marvin Gaines Bridge for Fun Group at the February potluck Above: Dewey Allen (L) accepting trophy from Vernon Bell Left: Vernon Bell, January Domino Champion
