36 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2020 | The Stardust Dancers Western BBQ Mini Show on Feb. 1 was deemed a smashing success by a very receptive audience of well over 100 people. It was a whole new concept of entertainment in Sun Lakes. All of the members of the Stardust Dancers not only were the entertainers, but also did all of the behind the scenes work as well. The show opened with western attire being modeled by both the men and women's modeling classes. Ellen Henneke and Chris Ongpin sang solos before a line dance was performed by the dancers. Next, the male members of the group performed their "Macho Man" routine for the very last time. Dix and Ellen Henneke sang solos, and a Hula was done by three Stardust Dancers who also dance with Makua Hula. Solos and a duet by Tom and Barbara Sheahan preceded a number by Ray Rendon and Perla Williams. A duet by Dix and Ellen Henneke, and a cha-cha "Como la flor" by the Stardust Ladies finished the show. Three horse races by six "stick horses" with Stardust jockeys produced winners who won gift cards to our fabulous restaurant. After all of the above activities, and a delicious barbecue dinner, DJ Ed Avina played some great music for dancing, complete with vocals. Evelyn Hawkins directed the show, assisted by Stage manager Ginger Burris, Announcer Florence Morck, Bill Nelson, and all of the Stardust Dancers. Patrick Kelley did all of the artwork on posters, tickets and flyers. A big thank you to all who participated in this production.
