| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2020 | 29 Our March tribute to a California writer begins with Aaron Wolfe, Brian Coffey, David Axton, Deanna Dwyer, John Hill, K.R. Dwyer, Leigh Nichols, Anthony North, Owen West, Richard Paige, and, oh yeah, Dean Koontz. They've lived in Orange County since 2006 in the same house with one wife and one dog. Why you ask? They are all pen names of Koontz. The man just can't take a day off. His books feature mostly horror, fantasy and science fiction themes with an occasional screenplay thrown in; he has had 12 hardcover and 14 paperback books on the New York Times Bestseller List. As a boy, Koontz was regularly beaten by his alcoholic dad which seems to have influenced his writing. I guess if his father had been a florist, Koontz would have written romance stories or poetry. He is known for the book series Odd Thomas and Frankenstein. Of course everyone seems to have a Frankenstein book in them. Of the two photos, one is a before and the other after. Guess which one is which; bet you can't. I suppose he has enough money for hair transplants. Now on to the good stuff. The Sun Lakes Creative Writers Group is a group of people who love to write. Anything from fiction, memoirs, poetry and essays. It's fun to hear what others are writing, and if you want, you will get critiques of your work to help you in your quest to become a better writer. Our group meets on the first Monday (March 2) and third Wednesday (March 18) of each month in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room from 3 to 5 pm. All are welcome, so give us a try. For more info please call Roger Smith at (951) 769-2808. Sun Lakes Mudslingers Hello again, from your community ceramics group. We participated in the Activities Day in the Main Clubhouse.
