26 | OHCC LIVING | MARCH 2020 | Papercrafting Club Charlotte Pichney, a longtime member of the Papercrafting Club celebrated her 90th birthday this past month. Born on Jan. 1, Charlotte was actually a New Year's baby. When asked to reflect on what it might have been like to be a New Year's baby in 1930, Charlotte reminded me 1930 was at the height of the Great Depression. Things were really tough for her family and not a lot of celebrating took place then. She added, "It was also my mother's birthday and we didn't establish any family traditions." Charlotte noted her parents were grateful to be able to afford a place to rent and food to eat as were most families during that period of time. She added she never had a birthday party as a child. People tend to celebrate her birthday more these days than was done when she was young. Charlotte was definitely showered with beautiful birthday cards and well wishes from her Papercrafting friends this year. We all appreciate the talent she brings to our club. Happy Birthday, Charlotte Save The Date: The Papercrafting Club will host the Second Annual Spring Arts and Crafts Fair on Sat., March 28 from 9 am to 1 pm. Last year over 30 vendors from Ocean Hills shared their crafts. Registration is limited to OHCC residents through Feb. 28. After that date outside vendors may register on a space available basis. Registration forms are available at the "front desk" (currently located in the Men's Club Room) at the Clubhouse. Happy 90th birthday to Charlotte Pichney!
