Papercrafting Club
Charlotte Pichney, a longtime
member of the Papercrafting
Club celebrated her 90th birthday
this past month. Born on Jan. 1,
Charlotte was actually a New Year's
baby.
When asked to reflect on what
it might have been like to be a
New Year's baby in 1930, Charlotte
reminded me 1930 was at the height
of the Great Depression. Things
were really tough for her family and
not a lot of celebrating took place
then. She added, "It was also my
mother's birthday and we didn't
establish any family traditions."
Charlotte noted her parents were
grateful to be able to afford a place to rent and food to
eat as were most families during that period of time.
She added she never had a birthday party as a child.
People tend to celebrate her birthday more these days
than was done when she was young.
Charlotte was definitely
showered with beautiful
birthday cards and well wishes
from her Papercrafting friends
this year.
We all appreciate the talent
she brings to our club.
Happy Birthday, Charlotte
