| OHCC LIVING | MARCH 2020 | 21 PLC President Ellen Kippel has great suggestions for disposing of old (empty) prescription bottles. She writes, "Whenever I got prescriptions for my pets from the vet I would save the bottles and tried to get the vet office to re-use them for the refile and I was told they could not do that. Jeannine, a new member of the Pet Lovers Club, brought to my attention a Nextdoor post from a lady working with rescues asking for people to give their used prescription bottles for rescues to use. Jeannine is gracious enough to agree to collect the used bottles and give them to the rescue. I will give you two other drop-off places besides Jeannine's house: 1. You can drop them off at my house along with other donated items (4909 Tilos Way) 2. The bin down at the dog park 3. Jeannine Ferrari, 5063 Dassia Way, 760-295-0112 Home, (760) 936-6665 Cell This is great use for the used bottles (for pets or people) and gets them out of the trash. For your own privacy, either peel off the labels or use black permanent marker to cross out identifying information. For all other materials donations (bedding, blankets, toys, carriers, etc.), drop-offs can be left in the big grey bin inside the dog park or at Ellen's house. Food should not be left at the dog park, but should be given to Ellen at home. The Humane Society does take open bags of food, but we must know what kind of food it is. We cannot accept food taken out of the container without any identification of what the food is. Thank you, Jeannine, and thank you everyone for helping. Pet Lovers Club Genealogy Interest Group The Genealogy Interest Group is a group of individuals who want to find out about their heritage. Who your ancestors were, where they lived and what they did. The group provides tools to do your search and help in getting started or suggestions to the experienced to breakthrough a stumbling block to another generation. They meet on the first Wednesday of the month from 10 am to noon with a short presentation and a help session answering questions the attendees have. We offer a second two hour period of individual help each month, date and time to be announced on the TAG calendar. We offer the World Explorer version of Ancestry.com, a search engine for finding your ancestors free of charge in the computer lab. (Individual subscription about $100 a month.) We offer the Family Tree Maker program on several of the computers in the lab to catalog your family tree data and present your tree data. The coordinators are Dorothy Miller and Don Wirth. Help sessions will add Peggy Singh. Contact us at ohccgen@gmail.com.
