| OHCC LIVING | MARCH 2020 | 27 Spring is sprung, the grass is rizz… I wonder where all 'dem birdies izzz? (Old family joke. Sorry…) This month brings changes to the Clubhouse and POSSIBLE changes to our class schedule. The first class, which is DEFINITELY SCHEDULED, is on Thurs., March 19. It is our annual Christmas stocking kick-off class with Marcia Bruce, where she will be providing fabric kits for the stockings… all you need to have is a willingness to sew them together. This annual project brings smiles to a lot of Pendleton kids during the holidays, so join in! Here's the confusing part – so read carefully: Access to the Sewing Room is supposed to be closed as of March 20, due to construction. Since this closure date depends on the progress they make in February, we may have access a bit longer… only time will let us know that. So, if construction is behind schedule, we will have a second free class on Thurs., March 26. It will be making a small zippered "ditty bag" with Kathy Moskovitz. Remember – this class may be cancelled due to construction. Chris Sanderson will send out an email regarding firm closure dates as we get closer. All of our regular gatherings will also be affected by the construction closure in March. They are scheduled as "normal" until March 20, (approximately). Once access is blocked, they will be on hiatus until construction is completed in that area. If anyone would like to participate in our activities and is unable to get to the Clubhouse, please contact Chris Sanderson at (858) 442- 1834. We have volunteers ready to pick you up! Please visit our website, lovingly updated by Terri Eckhardt. http://ohccsewing.wixsite.com/ohccsewing All are welcome to join us. Dues are $7 per year. Our meetings are held at 9:30 am in the morning on the first Thursday of each month… we look forward to seeing you! Sewing, Etc. Silversmiths We are working on both fabrication and lost wax casting this year. The silver bracelet was fabricated with the addition of cast flowers. The copper bracelet is fabricated with several strands of copper wire that has been twisted and soldered at both ends before reforming. Both methods can be fun and very creative, the two methods can be combined to create a totally unique object. We meet every Wednesday afternoon from 1 to 3 pm with instruction on the first and third Wednesdays and workshops giving you additional time to use the equipment and/or continue working on items or new projects. Assistance will be available at all meetings. Stained Glass Learn the copper foil method of creating beautiful stained glass projects. A beginner's class will start May 21. Classes will be from 10 am to 12 pm each Thursday morning through July 16. Please email Jo Marr @ jo.linda.marr@gmail.com to sign up and get further details. Intermediate students continue to improve their skills on Tuesday afternoons and Thursday mornings. The attached photo is a wonderful stained glass project Don Kent completed recently. For information contact Jo Marr at jo.linda.marr@gmail.com or (619) 992-4697.
