Both the Basic Lesson handouts and videos of the lessons are available on the OHCC website: https//ohccbilliards.wixsite.com/billiardsclub/basics. Click on the lessons to view the handouts, click on "Charlie's YouTube Videos 2-7" to view the six Basic Lesson videos. Watch any lesson you missed. Brush up on topics you'd like to review. Back the video up and watch one part several times to be sure you got it. Still not clear? Stop by the Billiard Room and ask Charlie! Considering that 8-Ball is our most popular game, one that all of us play, you'd figure that everyone knows the rules. But you'd be wrong! Come on down Thurs., March 5, at 1:30 pm and learn some things about the game that you should know but may not. This lesson is for beginners who simply want to know how to play the game, the OHCC way. This lesson is for intermediate players who would like to know some simple strategies for playing a better game. This lesson is for experienced players who think they know all the rules. Let's see if afterwards you can say, "I knew it all." "Tournament" can be a scary word. It invokes images of high stakes and ruthless competition among highly skilled hustlers. But that's not how we do it! Our tournaments are friendly social activities, designed to help players learn new games and meet new people. That's especially true of our Beginners 8-Ball Practice Tournament, which is designed to help new players see how our tournaments are run and allow them to put a toe into the tournament waters. You don't have to be a good player! In fact, you need no skills or knowledge at all! Just show up and we'll help you participate and have fun on Thurs., March 12 at 1:30 pm. Our first advanced lesson of the year will cover "Breaking," and will take place Thurs., March 19 at 2:30 pm. There's more to the break shot than power, and you'll get some tips to improve your breaking no matter how hard you can hit the ball. Official 2020 Billiards Club competition kicks off on Thurs., March 26, at 1:30 pm. Our Team 8-Ball Tournament will have teams with one A and one B player. Since the A and B players trade shots, this is a good chance for B players to see how A players approach the game and to pick up some pointers on strategy and shot selection. The winning team members will each get a Club Tournament Winner's Visor AND a prominent mention plus their photo right here in the OHCC Living Magazine, which they can copy and send to everyone they know. AND they will be immortalized with a bronze plaque on our Wall of Champions! Billiards
