56 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | APRIL 2020 | We're two weeks into the spring tournament, getting ready for our free Pizza Party. If you haven't already done so, you have a week to get your $3 pp in to secure your place in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. The party is on April 5. Doors will open at 3:30 pm followed by our semi-annual club meeting around 4 pm. After that comes our fabulous pizza with all of the trimmings and drinks for free. The $3 fee is good faith money so we know who is coming. This money will be donated to Charity Week in June. As always your $3 goes into an envelope with names on the outside and delivered to 1288 Pleasant Valley. Better hop to it; there are only a few days left. The team winners for the Winter Tournament were: B League — Effie Skasick, Shel Grundman, Kathy and Larry Heaslet. A League — Stan Klippi, Jim Sharkey, subbing for Judy Klippi, Janel Karabatsos and Ken Mahli. AA League — Jean and Lloyd Dana, Jim and Dutch Curry. FYI, the Spring Tournament ends the week of May 18, with playoffs May 26 and 27. Mon., May 25 is Memorial Day, therefore playoffs are delayed one day to Tuesday and Wednesday. Questions, call Dutch at (951) 845-0392. See you on the courts! Friends of Bocce Friday mornings, 9 am in the North Clubhouse. Cost is only $5 per week (or $20 per month). Tai chi (Tie-Chee) is an ancient Chinese tradition that, today, is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing. Originally developed for self-defense, Tai Chi has evolved into a graceful form of exercise that's now used for stress reduction and a variety of other health conditions. Often described as meditation in motion, Tai Chi promotes serenity through gentle, flowing movements. The tradition of Tai Chi dates back to at least the 15th century in China, and the practice is based on the belief that balancing the opposite forces in the body (known as yin and yang) will encourage the flow of chi (energy) through the body to promote health. You may also find Tai Chi appealing because it's inexpensive and requires no special equipment. Tai Chi can be done anywhere, alone or in a group class.
