58 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2020
Tennis Club
First, we'd like to thank Steve Hovey for having contributed to
writing all those humorous yet very informative Breeze articles for
the past few years. Now that Steve has found greener pastures, I
have been tasked with filling his enormous shoes (I think he said he
wears the same size as Shaquille O'Neal) for the upcoming two years.
Therefore, I may have to come out of my retirement and work extra
hard just to follow Steve's gigantic footsteps.
Don't you feel bad, Steve?
We'd also like to give special thanks to Howard Lyon who's one
of the founding members of our Tennis Club. After having served
as an Executive Committee member for well over a decade, Howard
has decided to pass the baton and really enjoy life once and for
all. We will certainly miss Howard's exceptional dedication to
continually building up our club, as well as his "engineering genius"
in maintaining the ball machine in tip-top condition all these years.
Who knows, we may luck out one day and talk him into coming out of
his retirement once again. Until then, "Howard has left the building."
Even though the new committee was just recently formed,
members of the committee are already hard at work to make things
happen for our members to enjoy. Among the events being worked
on are the summer evening friendly matches which will be held on
the second and third Thursdays from May through October, as well
as an intra-club tournament to be held sometime this spring. There
will also be other tournaments and functions later on during the
year. So, stay tuned!
As always, we will have our Play Day on the last Saturday of each
month. If playing some fun tennis with your friendly fellow tennis
players isn't quite enough to lure you out of bed, we will also bribe
you with free coffee and pastries before play. Refreshments will be
served at 8:30 am and play will start at 9 am.
Chuck Beckman will continue to lead a tennis group practice
session every Saturday morning (except for Play Day) starting at 9
am. All residents, no matter what your skill levels, are welcome to
join in this fun and educational morning of tennis. So, don't be shy.
Come out and join us. It's absolutely free! For more information go
