KATHY CRAVEN 1. We have lived here for three years. Our friends moved here first and when we saw the community, we loved it. We did the research and loved all the amenities. 2. Within the community, I am the Safety Committee co-chair and I'm on the Neighborhood Watch Steering Committee. I am our Block Captain and have been a District Delegate twice. Outside the community, I worked for a large communications company before retiring after 37 years of service. I held a variety of positions in a sales environment, managing, selling, and engineering networks for Fortune 500 companies. I managed employees in their day-to-day job performance, improved customer experience, and adhered to policies, human resource requirements, and budgets. I am also a state-certified domestic abuse advocate and volunteered at a shelter in Orange County before moving here. 3. Transparency is the key issue for me. We need to provide residents with access to information in a timely manner. If they can't be at the committee and Board meetings, residents should be able to access the minutes or videos as close to real time as possible, at least within 48 hours. This is not happening now but should be. 4. For most of us, this will be the last place we live. We need to preserve the community and keep it pristine for residents now and in the future. We need to maintain fiscal responsibility and keep reserves at 110 percent or higher so that the preservation can be accomplished. 5. I am not a single-agenda person. I want to be part of a Board that works cohesively for the greater good of the entire community. We need to keep spending to a limit and association fees to a minimum. LILA BONNER 1. We have been residents since May 2016. Living here at Four Seasons Beaumont is beautiful. The foothills and mountains give us a great sense of well-being. The environment provides an opportunity to communicate with like-minded neighbors and friends. 2. I have two masters' degrees, one in business administration and one in psychology. They provide me with the knowledge and skills to think critically, to problem solve, and to make decisions that are effective. I was a delegate for the clerical unit and vice president of the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) at UCLA. I honed my skills in negotiating, teamwork, looking at contracts, policies, and ways to improve benefits. I also worked as a counselor, where I learned to be objective and empathetic, with the ability to listen, to understand and share the feelings of another, and not to judge those feelings. These skills enhance my communication and decision making. 3. Some of the key issues are maintaining the safety and security of our community and maintaining the common areas. We must make decisions that fit the needs of the community, enforcing rules and regulations that aid in protecting home values for the owners. We must strive to keep dues low while keeping reserves healthy. Fostering communication and transparency between the Board and homeowners is extremely important. 4. I want to see Four Seasons Beaumont continue to be kept as beautiful as it is now, to see property values maintained, to see all of our land and unused spaces utilized, and to see communication between the Board and the homeowners as productive as possible. Reserves must be funded at 100 percent or more. 5. I want to serve as an advocate for the community that creates a vision that belongs to all of us. I envision serving the community's needs while helping to enforce covenants, preserve property values, support initiatives and capital improvements that benefit the greater good. This is our community. Our home. JOLENE COOLEY 1. We have lived in Four Seasons for three and a half years. One of our reasons for choosing this community was to find a home close to our grandchildren. Four Seasons meets that goal while being one of the most beautiful communities in Southern California. 2. Before retiring I was a financial Auditor for the State of Utah specializing in auditing colleges, universities, courts, and the school board. I loved my job and wanted to use my skills and abilities to serve our community. I have served on our HOA's Finance Committee as well as serving as the current Chief Financial Officer on our Board of Directors (BOD). After earning an accounting degree, I continued my education and earned an MBA. While attending college I worked as the accountant for a HOA. While working there I answered all kinds of questions about the finances and everyday operations from homeowners and the BOD which gave me a good understanding of how an HOA operates. I researched reserve funds in several HOAs which gave me knowledge about the importance of maintaining healthy reserves. Most of our HOA's expenses are labor intensive as minimum wages in California continue to increase over the next few years. A healthy reserve is important to protect our home values. 3. Some of the issues facing our community are the need to constantly review our finances so that they remain healthy, evaluate under used areas of our community and find the best uses for these areas to keep our community vibrant and not static, and encourage homeowners to partner with the Board of Directors to maintain our community as a place for all to enjoy. 4. I encourage all homeowners to help the Board search for additional methods and ways to make information readily available. We must work together to keep reserves healthy while maintaining the beauty and value of our homes and our community. Reserves should be funded at 100 percent or more. Careful budgeting will allow us to keep dues reasonable while maintaining proper reserve funds. Keeping healthy reserves protects against catastrophic shortages in future years. We encourage homeowners to keep current with plans and changes - read the Breeze, utilize the website, come to Board and committee meetings. Be real partners in this community. 5. I truly appreciate the opportunity to use my skills and knowledge to serve this community as a member of the HOA BOD. I will use my skills and background to work hard for our community. I will continue to strive to keep all information and the decisions of the Board, financial and other, transparent and visible. I look forward to partnering with you to keep Four Seasons Beaumont the magnificent community it is at present. FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2020 9
