Steps should be taken immediately to slow down the spread of a virus. This can be done by proper handwashing, coughing into your elbow or sleeve, and limiting social interactions (no hugs or handshakes). The Board has recognized that we resemble a landlocked cruise ship. There are lots of activities here just as on a cruise ship. The EPC Committee reminds residents that common sense and proper hygiene will help keep us safe. You should see an increase in safety measures around the community. There will be more hand-sanitizer stations readily available and signs in the restrooms will remind residents to wash their hands. The Handwashing Guide, from the CDC Article Clean Hands Saves Lives, lists the five steps to proper handwashing: 1. Wet your hands. 2. Lather your hands to spread the soap. 3. Scrub your hands for 20 seconds or sing the "Happy Birthday" song twice. 4. Rinse your hands with running water. 5. Dry your hands with a paper towel or air dryer. COVID-19 shares some symptoms with the flu. They both feature a fever and cough. COVID-19 also causes respiratory problems like shortness of breath. The flu has more symptoms like a cold; a runny nose, muscle or body aches, headaches, and fatigue. The virus is too new to have any vaccine available. This is why we need to be so careful. Hopefully, if everyone washes their hands and coughs into their elbow or sleeve and stays home if they are feeling sick, we can stop the spread of the illness. Clubs and groups are reminded to clean their balls and cues and change or clean their decks of playing cards if they are exposed to any sick persons. We meet on the third Tuesday of the month. The next meeting is Tuesday, April 21 at 10 am in the RCN Conference Room. Join us if you can. ~ Michael A. We are in the process of addressing some major street fracturing that has been brought to our attention on seven of our streets. We are still in the process of working on finalizing bids and approvals for roof repairs on The Lodge, the RCN and Spa buildings. The Facilities Committee meets in the RCN Conference Room on the second Wednesday of the month at 10 am. We always welcome residents to join us and share their ideas or concerns. ~ Jim Griffin, jjimgriff08@aol.com
