22 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2020 Thanks to the Social Committee members and volunteers for all your help setting up the Rock 'n Roll Reunion decorations and details. The positive comments were so favorable from the audience we have decided to bring them back next year. Thanks for the valuable input. Our next event is "Paint Night" on April 10 in the Ballroom. The Art Barn is hosting this event and 100 participants is the maximum attendance. They will bring instructors to move around the room during this step-by-step paint presentation, should you have questions. Tickets are now available at the front desk in the lobby. Cost is $35 per person. The Social Committee will provide coffee and water, or BYOB. Tables will be available if painters want to bring additional snacks to enjoy. The Fashion Show tickets go on sale April 20 and, as most of you know, it is a favorite! The theme is "Pretty in Pink" and doors will open at 11 am on May 30. Lunch will be served as we present our lovely models. Model auditions will be on April 23 from 10 am to noon, so keep an eye on the Daily Report and flyers if interested. We will also have a Cat Walk Run for attendees with prizes for your "Festive Attire." Ticket sales worked out very well for Paint Night. Plan to be lined up by 8:30 am for sales. We will give you your number, the form to be filled out, and any questions answered. At 9 am, inside the Ballroom, your number will be called at which time tickets may be purchased with completed form and payment. Enjoy this beautiful time as spring begins to make its appearance. Until next month. ~ Joyce Hogue, jhogue54@ gmail.com Social Committee This year not only is the flu season upon us in full swing, but we also have COVID-19, better known as coronavirus, to contend with. According to the World Health Organization, coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases. Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath, and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure, and death. Standard recommendations to prevent infection spread include regular hand washing, covering mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, and avoiding close contact with anyone showing symptoms. The National Safety Council and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) both recommend the following: 1. Always practice proper sterilization and infection control measures 2. Frequent and thorough hand washing with soap and water 3. Use hand sanitizer, with at least 60 percent alcohol content, as a secondary option 4. Keep nose and mouth covered when coughing or sneezing 5. Avoid touching these areas, as well as in and around the eyes, with unwashed hands Should you buy and wear a mask if you are not sick? NO. If you are a healthy person, you should not need to wear one. If you are healthy, there is no evidence that wearing a mask will protect you. The only time you should wear a mask is if you are sick and you have to leave the house. This is done to protect others. If you feel sick at home, you should wear a mask to protect your family; or if you are caring for someone, it is wise to wear a mask when you are in close proximity to that person. They should also wear a mask. The coronavirus is transmitted through droplets, not through the air, which means you cannot randomly breath it in. This means a standard surgical mask will not help. If you feel any symptoms you should contact your doctor and stay inside. As a reminder, a good rule of thumb is to wash your hands the way we instructed our children to do — for at least 20 seconds. A silly, but effective, way is to sing the ABC song while washing your hands… it's about 20 seconds. Stay healthy! Safety Committee meets the second Tuesday of every month at 10 am in the RCN. Everyone is welcome. ~ Kathy Craven, kathycraven@rocketmail.com Safety Committee
