We recently held our annual dinner. This year we headed to Palm Springs for dinner at Sammy G's. Things couldn't have worked out better. Great atmosphere and excellent food was topped off with an opportunity for our members to kick back and enjoy a very relaxing evening with fellow members and invited guests. A big thank you goes out to club president, Terry Humble, for taking care of all the details leading up to the dinner. Thank you, Terry! The beginning of spring is pretty special to any motorcycle enthusiast because it means more daylight, dry road conditions, mild weather, more time in the saddle! For us, it means the start of a new riding season. We are wasting no time as we will head to Death Valley in the coming weeks. This will be a three-day loop. Day one ends in Bishop, day two takes us through Death Valley, ending in Las Vegas. Day three is back home. Ten riders have signed up for this ride. While our multi-day rides are special, we always look forward to our weekly rides. We meet Thursdays before 9 am in The Lodge parking lot for a short briefing on the day's ride. We are on the road promptly at 9 am. About the only thing that prevents us from riding is wet weather. Otherwise, we dress accordingly and enjoy the ride. While we often leave it to the club president to decide on the route for the day, we are always open to suggestions from our members on the riding destinations. Regardless, no one ever feels disappointed at the end of the day because the routes are always so varied. Given our mild winter, we were able to take some routes that are generally saved for later in the year. For example, we recently rode to San Clemente for lunch on the pier. On another Thursday, we rode to the desert for lunch and the route home took us up the 74 to Idyllwild. No snow, no road debris; perfect riding conditions. More recently we were able to ride to Big Bear. While we did encounter some melting snow runoff, the weather was warm with no ice on the roads. Our Thursday ride generally works out to be 150 to 200 miles in length. Including breaks and stopping for lunch, we are usually home by mid-afternoon. So, if you ride, consider joining us. As for your style of ride, it's wide open. We have full-blown touring rigs, adventure rides, sport tourers, trikes, and even a sweet Triumph Bobber. ~ Jim Ayala, jimrayala95@gmail.com Motorcycle Club Taking a lunch break in Temecula.
