PETE ANTOINE 1. I have lived here approximately 14 years after moving from Downey. I'm a native Californian and have had the opportunity to see enormous growth of the area. Our local law enforcement agency has made a conscientious effort in gang control. Close access to the freeway is another benefit. There are a multitude of reasons, but most importantly, it's the outstanding people here. 2. I have a degree in Business and I'm retired military, United States Air Force (USAF). I served in both Vietnam and Desert Storm and attended leadership school. I successfully completed a USAF leadership development program with a certificate of training. I have been an officer of the Los Angeles Probation Department assigned to California Youth Authority and chairperson of the United States Postal Service. I am also a graduate of the Sheriff 's Academy in Los Angeles. In addition to being an officer of the Torrance Police Department, I have also worked for the Department of Social Services. 3. I see maintaining civility and integrity of the community for all residents as absolute. Residents moved here to enjoy a quality of life they've come to expect in their later years. Security is utmost for seniors; we must protect the weak and make sure no one is taken advantage of. My favorite scripture is Matthew 7:12: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." 4. The future of Four Seasons encompasses a strong fiscal policy. We have to maintain our reserves so that the facilities are kept in superior condition and that we maintain continuity of the community. 5. In closing, I would like to thank you for exploring these questions. My feelings about the community and the camaraderie with fellow residents, friends, and neighbors are beyond measure. I hope to serve to my fullest and to be available when called upon. I will lead by example. 8 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2020 1. How long have you lived at Four Seasons and why did you move here? 2. What is your previous experience and how has it prepared you for a position on the Board (work, community involvement, previous HOA experience)? 3. What do you see as key issues facing our community? 4. What is your vision for the future of Four Seasons Beaumont? Please include your policy on Reserves. 5. Do you have a final statement? THE QUESTIONS This year's community election has 10 candidates vying for four seats on the Four Seasons Beaumont Board of Directors. Below you will find the photos and names of each candidate, followed by their answers to the same five questions. In previous elections the candidates were interviewed, and then informative recaps of the interviews were published. This time, since there were so many candidates, we decided that the best and most fair way to present the information was to devise questions, and ask the same questions to each person we interviewed. We did, and the answers are listed, one through five, for each candidate. It is so important for everyone to vote. The only way to help ensure that you have a voice in shaping the community in which you live, is to vote. Ballots were mailed by March 27 so you should have received yours by now. A Meet the Candidates forum was held on March 30 at 5 pm. Completed ballots must be received by 9 am on April 28 at the Inspectors of Election, 1518 Four Seasons Circle, Beaumont, CA 92223. The Annual Meeting to announce the winning candidates will be held on April 30 at 1 pm at The Lodge. Please read the questions, and each candidate's answers to them. And then vote. Please. For your sake and for the sake of our community. Make your voice heard. Opinions expressed by the candidates do not necessarily reflect those of the Communications Board. ~ Laurie Larson and Kris Corbett TEN CONTENDERS, FOUR SPOTS: MEET THE CANDIDATES FOR THE BOARD ROBERT ALLEN 1. My wife Cathleen and I have lived here three years in June. We moved from Orange County after a friend of ours who lives here told us about the community. 2. I served on the Architecture Committee as a final inspector for the Mallorca HOA. I then became a Director at Large and was the liaison for the Security — our Safety — Committee. I'm currently our new Neighborhood Block Captain here. I am still working as an associate at a major hardware store and have lots of experience interacting with people. 3. Key issues are maintaining our quality of life and keeping dues steady. I'm not a financial guy but I do look at the financial big ticket items such as insurance, landscape, and security. The Board needs to be cohesive and work together for the betterment of all residents and the HOA. 4. We have more and more people participating in a large number of clubs and groups and they are looking for openings for meetings. We will probably have to expand at some point to provide for all the activities. The amphitheater is already overgrown and there is the issue of safety when exiting. We must maintain an adequate reserve to prepare for things that are going to or need to happen. There is just no way around it — we have to have that rainy day fund. 5. I am running for Board of Directors to ensure we have a complete and fully staffed Board that is centered on the HOA and not individual interests. I know we can't please everyone all the time and we may not always make the "right" decision but if the decision is to help the majority of the community then it's not a bad one.
