| OHCC LIVING | APRIL 2020 | 35
We walk and hike every two weeks on alternating Thursdays and
Fridays. The walk is typically one and a half to two miles on relatively
level terrain. The hike is usually three and a half to four and a half
miles with 200 to 500 feet of elevation gain. After the hike we go to
lunch together for socializing and discussion of hike/walk.
Our planned hikes for April are on April 3, Iron Mountain-Ellie
Lane Loop & Summit. On April 16 Piedras Pintadas.
We hiked on March 6 to Lower Santa Ysabel Creek and on March
19 to Santa Margarita River East End.
Our hike at Los Penasquitos Canyon was excellent and the hikers
were able to see a waterfall. We all met for lunch at Yanni's Bar &
Grill for a wonderful meal. On our hike/walk to Calavera Preserve we
split up into three groups, the walkers walked to the Lake Calavera,
the hikers did the Caldera Loop and a group of hikers went up to the
Summit which was an active volcano 12 million years ago.
We have our overnight trip to Palm Springs Oct. 20 - 23.
The schedule and any updated information will be posted on the
web at: www.ohwh-club.com/walkers-hikers/schedule during the
month.
For each hike we meet at 8:30 am in the overflow parking lot by
the Clubhouse and car pool to and from the hike. Passengers give the
driver some cash for gas. Always bring water, a hat, sunscreen, and
sturdy shoes.
