| OHCC LIVING | APRIL 2020 | 21 Pet Lovers Club President Ellen Kippel informs us that after such a successful event last year we are looking into having another Humane Society event in July. She will keep us posted on dates that are available. The new hours for the Dog Park have been posted on the entrance sign. They are from 11 am to sundown (the old ones said until "dusk," which is hard to judge). Daily sundown time is available on cell phones. The dog park is to be opened at 11 am each day by staff. Community Patrol has been given access, in the event the gate remains locked. They received a microchip scanner from Ellen. Now if a dog is found, they can scan the dog to try and find the owner. She reminds people to register their pets in DwellingLive, to get the pets microchipped and keep a collar and current ID tag on the pets at ALL TIMES. Most of the lost pets do not get loose when out on a walk. They escape from home. Pet Lovers Club Genealogy Interest Group The Genealogy Interest Group is a group of individuals who want to find out about their heritage. Who your ancestors were, where they lived and what they did. The group provides tools to do your search and help in getting started or suggestions to the experienced to breakthrough a stumbling block to another generation. They meet on the first Wednesday of the month from 10 am to noon with a short presentation and a help session answering questions the attendees have. We offer a second two hour period of individual help each month, date and time to be announced on the TAG calendar. We offer the World Explorer version of Ancestry.com, a search engine for finding your ancestors free of charge in the computer lab. (Individual subscription about $100 a month.) We offer the Family Tree Maker program on several of the computers in the lab to catalog your family tree data and present your tree data. The coordinators are Dorothy Miller and Don Wirth. Help sessions will add Peggy Singh. Contact us at ohccgen@gmail.com.
