Happy April, Happy Easter, and Happy Passover to All. We are looking forward to romping on the Golf Course for another great "Spring Eggstravaganza!" The festivities will occur on Sat., April 11, just outside the Lanai Area nearest the Golf Casa. We are just hoping for a warm and sunny day. The gala begins at 10 am and the races start at 10:30 am, with the toddler race first in the line-up. Staff have purchased prizes and refreshments for all to enjoy. A race for seniors is planned. Be sure all children bring a basket, wear sunscreen, and come to run. "Hip Hop" the Bunny will be there for picture taking and to spread 'hopping happiness' throughout. Bring those cameras. The pictures are priceless, the giggles are delightful, and the faces remind us that life is good. The Pop-up Services continue on Mondays, and the vendors are experiencing enough business to come back each week. On occasion, things happen in their personal lives and they are not able to come. One of our vendors had a new baby arrive and he thought it best to stay home to support his wife. The farmer's market possibility was reviewed in committee and it was decided not to move forward on the recommendation. There was a cost attributed to each visit for setting up the truck. This cost is often the case. The vendors have to load their vehicles with inventory, and there is really no guarantee of the numbers that may attend on that day. We thank those that continue to support the service. Tri-City Medical Center will be hosting another lunch and lecture on Thurs., May 28. Tickets will be made available on May 1 for the complimentary lunch. The next two lectures will be in August and November. On these last two dates they will host a dinner lecture. Topics have yet to be determined. The temporary reception office continues to operate smoothly. With those asking for direction, the staff is able to direct them to their proper destination. We are able to handle all the services we did before: faxing, copies, etc. The office is located in the Men's Club Room, come through the Ladies Club Room perimeter doors and the office is straight ahead, "Reception" is on the window. Things are really shaping up on the other side of the building. We do believe it is going to be a welcomed facelift. Fernando Ortega Cruz has been promoted to Facilities Assistant. Fernando has been working here since 2008 and he is Ramon Vidrio's right-hand. We have appreciated Fernando's work ethic, flexible attitude, his dependability, and his willingness to learn how to operate the audio equipment for the Recreation Department programs. He is quick on his feet, as he handles the many requests that come his way. Congratulations, Fernando! So glad daylight savings time is here. There is nothing better than having more time in our day to play. See you in the Clubhouse, at the pool, or playing pickleball. Enjoy the beauty of these longer evenings!
