34 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MAY 2020 | Thoughts of strength, hope and perseverance go out to all Sun Lakes residents and their families from The International Dancers. This is a time for reflection, a time for meditation, prayer, and quiet. Days can be filled with worry and fear; or choices can be made to help others and give moral support. Days can be spent reading that favorite book there was never time for, calling family far away, reviewing old pictures, and that favorite pastime of cleaning the house, ridding it of germs. This period will pass and the sun will shine again. For information about IDS, call Diane Rossovich, Director, at (530) 913-8758, Lily Fedotowsky, Assistant Director, at (941) 662-0633, or any of the coordinators in the yellow box. Tap Dance Makua Hula Aloha! April showers (tears) bring May flowers (beauty and hope)! We are coming out of this horrible nightmare we called COVID-19 and are hopefully beginning to get back into our activities again. Our Makua Hula ladies endured the quarantine in many ways: having to stay home brought out the "master cooks and/or bakers" in most of us. Having to redo closets, kitchen cupboards and making their homes cleaner than Mr. Clean were ways to endure. Others were going onto the Internet for "hot hula," making Easter dresses for their granddaughters, ukulele classes, exercising and/or keeping up with our own Hawaiian videos from past shows. Joan Lau and Martie Steggell decided to help our community by making face masks for our group, as well as 52+ masks for Miravilla Nursing Home. Penny Skog also made masks for her neighbors. Everyone was helping each other to get through this. We are getting back on track and will be practicing for upcoming shows this summer, as well as the Follies coming Sept. 25, 26 and 27. We hope to see you all there! Just in case: Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time.
