| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MAY 2020 | 3 From the President's Desk By Sandra Moyer April showers bring May flowers. We should have an abundance! At the time of writing this article, we are still under a stay-at-home mandate, no gatherings at all, and wear masks when out in the public. Our lives and business here at Sun Lakes is on hold. As you know, on April 4, 2020, the Riverside County Public Health Officer issued a new order prohibiting gatherings of any number of people. This directly impacts our ability to conduct the 2020 Election. After reviewing this notice with legal and the Inspectors of Election, we had to postpone the election. As a result, Board Members, Delegates, and Alternate Delegates serve until the end of their term or until their successor is elected. Therefore, members will continue to serve in their current capacities until further notice. We will notify all once we receive additional information regarding when the election can be rescheduled. Update on our Curbside To Go Service. We reported to you that we had one confirmed virus case in our Food & Beverage Department. We immediately closed down the operation, sent employees home for a 14-day quarantine, informed the Health Department (which commended us for reacting quickly and executing the right procedures), called residents that utilized the service that week to be sure they were aware (they too were very appreciative of the call), and used a professional cleaning company that deals with this type of situation. We cleaned all of the Main Clubhouse, the North and South Clubhouses, and Administration buildings. As of this date of writing (April 8), the employees only have four more days of isolation, and so far no one has shown any symptoms. I hope and pray that it was just one isolated case, and to our knowledge, that associate is recovering. The Board will keep you informed as to when or if we will reopen Curbside To Go. Sun Lakes has always been known for its beauty, golf courses, restaurant, abundance of activities, and how nice the people are who live here. Well, once more, the people have come through – residents, management and employees! Most of us have all come together to get through this. No finger pointing — just "what can I do to help?" No rumors or half truths, just accurate information to make you safe and help keep you healthy. Thank you to those residents. God bless us all, stay healthy, and see you soon out and about.
