| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MAY 2020 | 57 Sun Lakers III Our league pulled the plug on our season earlier this year due to COVID-19, ending my plan for an incredible comeback, finishing the season locked in 22nd place. It turns out the first place team was a huge surprise (huh) Team Motive, Claudia Davis, Larry Davis, Bridgette Whaley women's high scratch series of 615 and Joseph De La Torro. It was a surprise because another team's member had the men's high scratch series, 838 Andy Torro and the other half of Double Trouble Sandy Hepburn all but guaranteed a first place finish. He had a scratch game of 223. The summer series beginning on May 6 is still in question, but by the time you read this, we should know. Being optimistic, Winter League begins Sept. 9. In closing, wash your hands, stay well and safe. Should you have any questions or concerns call Teri Comerford (760) 217-9656. Sun Lakers at Canyon Lanes Why Do I Bowl - A Poem I go to the alleys for fun and for sport Anyone can bowl may they be tall or may they be short I may not be the best but I can hold my own That's why I get up that's why I leave home Now that I'm here I will do my best To bowl a good score for that is the true test Everyone is here ready to bowl I'll show them all I'll put on a show I'll bowl many strikes and even some spares I'll bowl so well I'll get many stares But before we start some coffee we need Lots of caffeine to get up to speed We get up early and to no surprise We are still wiping the sleep from our eyes I put on my shoes take the ball from my bag I'm feeling so good I may have to brag I'm full of energy I'm feeling so fine I can hardly believe it is just after nine We have our warm up and are ready to go It is almost time for me to put on a show Ball in hand I am all set I look at the alley and it looks very wet That's O.K. I know just what to do I have done this before it's nothing new I'll throw the ball with so much of a roll The pins must fall they will have to go Spinning and flying into the pit I know with my team I will be such a hit As the ball leaves my hand and into that oil My ball starts to skid my blood starts to boil Instead of the strike I saw in my head My ball hits only the ten pin and my face gets so red That's O.K. I say I can still get a mark My team will see that I have done my part My next ball went flying right at those pins It hits with a smash they are starting to spin Pins went a flying but to my surprise The five pin is still standing in front my eyes A mark I did not get and our team falls behind They say not to worry you will do it next time As I stand there to my chagrin The very next frame it happens again Nine pins I get on my first try As I shoot at the ten the ball flies on by Now I start to worry I started to fret Just in case: Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time.
