The deadline to write this article is early April, thus almost a month has past when you read this. Ordinarily this is not a problem because the topics and events discussed have been scheduled in advance, and we know when they will occur. This is no longer true. We are now in an unprecedented time. The definition of "unprecedented" is: "never done or known before." We hope when you read this, we will know more when all of our lives become somewhat normal again. We have now become familiar with the following phrases: social distancing, coronavirus, COVID-19, 6-foot separation, sheltering in place, senior shopping hours, and flattening the curve. These phrases, among others, describe the "new normal" way we live. We have adjusted our daily activities. Neighbors have been reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, taking walks through our community, and finding creative ways to stay busy. Our Four Seasons volunteers have been helping those in need with food deliveries and shopping. The phrase — "We are all in this together" — is very true. We are all doing our best to follow the guidelines and recommendations from the medical professionals and elected officials. Going forward, in May we elect our Board of Directors. It is important that we achieve a quorum of ballots. Please mail your ballots as instructed. If you have any questions, call The Lodge. Remember, your vote is important! Your Board of Directors (and it is your Board) will continue to monitor all information and do our best to communicate any important changes in the status of activities and scheduled events. We will reopen The Lodge and facilities when we are sure it is safe. Remember, "Laughter is the best medicine." Here are some examples: "That moment when you're worried about the elderly and realize that you are the elderly." "Gas is finally affordable and we can't go anywhere." "Eight pm is now the official time to remove your day pajamas and to put your night pajamas on." Message from the Board of Directors 2 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | May 2020 | Sincerely, and on behalf of your Board of Directors, Jim Hatcher, Tony Criscenti, Gene Hikel, Ken Pounders, Cliff Post, and Greg Rockvam Jim Crase Vice-President
