Whatever your talent, we want YOU! Do you sing? Play an instrument? Whistle? Act? Write? Dance? Yodel? Juggle? Make us laugh? Build sets? Work tech? We are always open to fresh ideas for programs and performances, so share yours with us! We meet the third Tuesday of every month at 4 pm in the Conference Room at the Lodge, or you can email me at egcellent@msn.com, and I'll forward your ideas to the PAC officers. Don't make us hunt you down, now! Please help us out and get involved. We have some exciting things planned for the rest of the year and into 2014. Our next variety show will be held July 4 with a patriotic theme, and we are in the process of assembling the segments for that show. P-l-e-a-s-e add your talent to the mix, to bring quality entertainment to our growing community. You can find an entry form on the clipboard on the credenza in the lobby. Please fill it out and turn it in to the front desk. PAC officers will check periodically to see if you answered our call. Don't delay, now, because the deadline for sign ups is May 21. Some of the many suggestions for upcoming events are: Another PG-55 show, a "What's My Line?" show (where the audience will guess the real vocation of several retired contestants, and the whole table will win), a "Gong" show, and another readers theater show on Oct. 4 (deadline for sign-up is Aug. 20). We will also launch another Holiday Extravaganza on Dec. 7, and need you to be involved. Once again, fill out the form in the Lobby for your holiday-themed participation. If you don't volunteer beforehand, we will also have a table at the July 27 Club Day at the Lodge, for your sharing-your-talent-with-us convenience. We were so disappointed when the May mystery theater show was postponed, and "A Christmas Carol" scheduled for Dec. 7, was cancelled. Please help us develop some great ideas for new activities and performances. We need you! ~ Eileen Gilbert 32 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MAY 2013 | clubs & Groups Four Season Singers We are learning a new patriotic song for the upcoming Fourth of July Show. If you are interested in the singers, you can contact me at (951) 797-3466 or email me at bawasco@dc.rr.com or come to any Monday rehearsal. ~ Barbara Wasco Classical Music Club Do you have an interest in starting a classical music club? Not just listening to classical music and going to concerts, but talking about the music and the composers who created it. If so, contact Steve Benoff via email at steve.benoff@verizon.net, or call (310) 413-4896. ~ Steve Benoff Counter Culture Cinema Join us for our May screening, of "Beasts of the Southern Wild." Here's a brief description of the film: Faced with both her hot-tempered father's fading health and melting ice-caps that flood her ramshackle bayou community and unleash ancient aurochs, six-year-old Hushpuppy must learn the ways of courage and love. If you like small films, indie films, foreign films, alternative films, festival circuit films and other films made for adults, you'll love the Counter Culture Cinema Club! We invite you to join us for screenings of these types of films, with stimulating discussion afterwards. We show a film on the second Sunday of each month. Our screening of "Beasts of the Southern Wild" will be in the Lodge's Movie Theatre Sunday, May 12, at 6 pm, followed by a discussion of the film so mark your calendars. Our June 9, screening will be "A Late Quartet." Our theater has very limited seating, so if you're interested in seeing "Beasts of the Southern Wild," come early. We hope to see you there! ~ Micki Rosen Amphitheater Production Group If it's time for great music, food, drink and friendship in an outdoor atmosphere- then it must be time for Sundays at the Amphitheater. Sun., May 19, at 7 pm, we begin with Tony Suraci, who along with playing guitar has the uncanny ability to replicate vocal sounds of many legendary artists. We guarantee you will be drawn in by his performance. Be sure to read "Spotlight" in this month's Breeze as it has a lot more to say about the upcoming Amphitheater summer season. Also look for your own copy of the Amphitheater Concert Series Brochure available at the Lodge and suitable for refrigerator or bulletin board hanging! Thanks for your continued interest and see you at the Amphitheater. ~ Penny McDonell Computer Learning Center for Seniors Computer Basics: It's NEVER too late to learn about computers!
