It's been a tough year for us all. A good book can take us away from reality for a little while. Although our library has been closed, we continue to order books for your upcoming reading pleasure. Members of the library can continue to reserve books through our library website. The website can be found within the OHCC website, and it includes detailed instructions on how to reserve books. Many members have already taken this opportunity to sign up for our new books and be first in line when the library reopens. One of our new books that has received rave reviews is The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michelle Richardson. Although the book is fiction, it is based on the 1930s Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project which was endorsed by Eleanor Roosevelt. The protagonist, Cussy Mary Carter, delivers the joy of books and reading material to the backwoods of Appalachian Kentucky. Not everyone is keen on Cussy or her mission. Courage and strength are necessary for Cussy to continue. This is a New York Times and USA Today bestseller. "Libraries are really wonderful. They're better than bookshops, even. I mean bookshops make a profit on selling you books, but libraries just sit there lending you books quietly out of the goodness of their hearts." ~ Jo Walton. Library Association MAY BOOK BUYS
