38 | OHCC LIVING | MAY 2020 | Founders Duplicate Bridge Friday Duplicate Bridge Prior to the closure of the Clubhouse, we were able to play twice on Tuesday nights. We had canceled our game just a couple of days prior to the shutdown. Meanwhile, with the social distancing requirement all we can do is play online. Luckily most of us have an electronic device that allows us to download the most popular online bridge venues: BridgeBase.com and FunBridge.com. Both offer free play, either live play with players from around the world or anonymous play with robot partners and opponents. For a small fee, BridgeBase offers tournaments for ACBL master points. Playing with your favorite partner against robot opponents sharpens your skills, the robots don't make mistakes. The robots are programmed to play the modern two over one system. You can review their convention card or just click on a bid for an explanation. We hope you all stay well until we can play again in the renovated Clubhouse. We offer a Duplicate Bridge game that combines the superior scoring of Duplicate Bridge but also has the friendlier and non- aggressive attitude of home style Rubber Bridge. With Duplicate Bridge, your true opponents are the pairs that hold the same cards as you would rather than your opponents at the table. We are not an ACBL game and for that, we not only offer an extremely reasonable game price of just $2, but also give cash awards to the winners. We are relatively small and have anywhere from five to eight tables. The games are at 1 pm on the second, fourth, and fifth Fridays of the month in Mykonos. You do not have to join this club to play your first game, however if you decide to join the annual dues are $6.
