By Wendy Panizza It's that time of year, "in like a lion, out like a lamb," and summer is on the way! We hope this edition of OHCC Living finds you all safe and well! At the time of this writing, we are still in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. We see some indication that restrictions relating to the stay-at-home orders may soon be lifted, albeit very carefully and cautiously, especially in environments such as ours, being an age-restricted community. We appreciate all of the comments and suggestions received from residents expressing concerns about this crisis. It has been difficult, at best, and together, we'll get through it. The Master Association Board of Directors has done an exemplary job in meeting its obligation to make the right decision for the health and safety of all residents and staff. I hope everyone can appreciate the effort that goes into making these tough decisions. Please be sure to check out the "Coronavirus" tab on the website for updated eblasts and links to the various agencies' mandates, and local resources for services available to seniors. HOA and Clubhouse staff continue to work, mostly from home, but also on-site for essential services. Maintenance and repairs continue, including Clubhouse renovations, and demolition of the Lanai structure. We are attending the dog waste stations and cleaning the benches regularly along Leisure Village Way. Staff is handling accounting and administrative functions, committee matters, and taking care of day-to-day business operations for the Master and Village associations. I'm very proud of staff 's ability to accommodate most resident requests during this time, and while this new-normal is becoming very familiar, please know that we want nothing more than to be able to get up and go to work at OHCC! Hope to see you all very soon. Please stay safe and be well. General Manager's Message 4 | OHCC LIVING | MAY 2020 | By Scott Lemieux, CPS Director As we continue to deal with the realities of the current COVID-19 pandemic, Community Patrol Services continues to do our part to contribute to the safety of OHCC's residents, staff, and guests by conducting patrols to ensure that designated areas closed in response to the pandemic remain closed. Please respect the government guidelines regarding physical distancing and not gathering in groups throughout the different villages or in the community at large. The officers will respond to reports of any gatherings and ask those residents to respect the safety protocols in accordance with the mandate. Please do your part by respecting the officers' requests for your own safety and that of the community. Additionally, in response to the pandemic, officers responding to requests for assistance or medical emergencies in residents' homes are required to wear a face mask and nitrile/latex gloves. This is also mandatory for officers in contact with the guests, contractors and service providers. Please understand that CPS will continue to perform our duties and will remain flexible in finding solutions to issues, while being mindful and respectful of the current threat. As always, if you have any questions or recommendations, please feel free to contact me at the Front Gate and I'd be happy to assist you. Please remember to abide by posted speed limits and obey all traffic signs. Safety is the objective, not citations. We all contribute to the culture of safety within the community. Safety doesn't happen by accident. Community Patrol Services Golf Course Irrigation & Renovation By Don Lopez Since the Town Hall meeting, we have continued to work on completing the contract for the golf course renovation and finishing the design as well. The process is moving more slowly now, partly because we are at that point in the process and partly because everything is taking longer with the COVID-19 restrictions. We are continuing to hold meetings by utilizing Zoom, which is helpful, but certainly not as effective as face-to-face meetings. The grassing season is around July-August. We considered trying to do part of the renovation this summer to take advantage of that season. However, because we are encountering some difficulties in the process, we felt it would be wiser to take a step back and shape the contract the way it should be for OHCC. It is appearing highly unlikely that any renovation will take place in 2020. It is more realistic that we will do the renovation in 2021 and catch the grassing season next summer. We will continue working on the contract and finishing the design. We will keep you informed on our progress.
