sun lakers at canyon lanes Our winter season 2012-13 is drawing to a close. The winning team hasn't been determined with three more weeks of competition. "Here We Go" (Bud Miner, Bonnie Greene, Teri and Dan Comerford) have a two point lead over "4 OF US" (Marilyn Knowles, Bob Greb, George Thiel, and one vacant), so this promises to be a close race. The season has produced some fine scratch series scores, Dennis Bizek (747), Bob Greb (737), tennis Gene Sax (712), Martie Steggell (598), Bonnie Greene (592) and Earline Edwards (566). We've had a great season, and the league officers send their thanks to all the bowlers. May 13, is the kick off of a 15-week summer league, so if you're interested in joining call Teri, 760-217-9656, or Bud, 845-5551, to see if there are any openings. sun lakers & friends tuesday bowling league We had a great 2012-13 season, but it has come to the end. Team 11, The Ball Brawlers (Ken Smelker, Mitzi Taniguchi, Bridgette Greb and Bob Greb) took first place for the season. The Ball Brawlers also took the High Scratch Series award, with a 2264. Team 1, The Alley Gators (Larry Stormes, Peggy Laurel, Teri Comerford and Dan Comerford) had the High Scratch Game, with a 764. Team 9 (Kris Wallace, Fred Richman, Mel Green and Darrell Botello) had the High Handicap Series, with a 2707, and Team 13, Shake Em Up (Sue Langford, Shirley McDonald, Judy Ehlers and Jim Langford) had the High Handicap Game, with a 930. The High Season Individual Scores were: Men: Scratch Series - Andy Toro, Scratch Game - Jim Langford, Handicap Series - Gerry Sanchez, Handicap Game - Jim Miller. Women: Scratch Series - Bridgette Greb, Scratch Game - Mitzi Taniguchi, Handicap Series - Teri Comerford, Handicap Game - Susie Esquivel. Sweepstakes were April 2, with Dan Comerford winning 1st place for men and Mitzi Taniguchi 1st place for women. 2nd place - 9th place for Men: Bill Dimitt, Fred Richman, Bob Greb, Andy Toro, Jim Langford, Chuck, Pritchard, Ray Roberson and Gaylord Spence. 2nd place - 9th place for Women: Sue Langford, Judy Ehlers, Bridgette Greb, Teri Comerford, Sallie Flesher, Amy Stilson, Zelyne Rudolph and Ida Nily. Congratulations to all the winners in both the season awards and the Sweepstakes! Hope to see all of you back next season. Coulda Shoulda Woulda (Michael and Maureen Farra, John and Margo Kuhn) and The Surprises (Terry and Ross Prather, Hal Taylor and Tony Campana) finished in a tie for 2nd place in the 30 week league just concluded. The World Cup Tennis League is still going strong. We have had a great turn out with many participants and spectators. Our 2nd quarterly meeting and BBQ at the South Clubhouse is Fri., May 24, at 6 pm. Sign up at the South Clubhouse bulletin board to participate. On June 1, there will be a bike ride of varying distances in Banning. It is part of the centennial celebrations for the city. We encourage our members to participate in this event. If interested, contact Bill Hobbs at 769-9668. We have just started an evening mixer of beer and pizza once a month on the third Wednesday at 5 pm. For only $5 pp, join the fun with tennis, pizza and beer. Don't forget the first Saturday of each month is our monthly mixer. Men and women of all levels of play are welcome. We need to address the problem of guests on our courts without residents being present. Our CC&R's state: Guests are prohibited from using the South Clubhouse tennis courts 1, 2, and 3. Guests may, when accompanied by a resident use courts 4, 5, and 6 at the South or North Clubhouse tennis facilities under the same limitations imposed on homeowners. This means ladies or men who have outside guests coming in to play a foursome or singles MUST play on the back courts. If you are teaching a guest you also must play on the back courts. Signs will be posted and security will be contacted to enforce our CC&Rs. If you have someone on your guest list that comes in to play tennis, YOU MUST BE PRESENT. In The Hunt (Pat Bisesi, Lil McLean, Dick Taylor, and Bob McLean ) have 29 wins and Whoopies (Shirley Padick, Ginger Hines, Don Hines, and Jim Padick) are only one game behind. In The Hunt also has the highest team scratch game with a 789. Team scratch series belongs to All In (Louise Deal, Sue Finta, Dennis Wilson, Vince Finta) with a score of 2152. Team 14 (Tom Keheley, Sheila Bryan, John Noonan, and Rick Waters) are hanging on to the team handicap game of 1000: and Whoopies (Shirley Padick, Ginger Hines, Don Hines, and Jim Padick) own the team handicap series with a score of 2801.
