Friends we will miss Ben Dorazio passed away January 28, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease and its complications. His loving wife Shirley and daughter Judy were by his side. He was born December 16, 1932 in Derry, PA, the son of the late Joseph and Julia (Dellavechio) Dorazio. He was a graduate of Derry Borough High School where he excelled in both football and basketball. Upon graduation, he joined the Navy and served from 1952-1956 as a Radioman on the U.S.S. Half Beak Submarine during the Korean War. Following his service, he attended the University of Pittsburgh and graduated with a BS in Metallurgical Engineering. He was employed by Latrobe Steel Company for 34 years, retiring in 1994. An avid golfer, he and Shirley enjoyed the golf courses in Sun Lakes where they have resided since 2003. He was a wonderful husband, father and "pap pap" who was dearly loved. His quick wit and fun loving spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Shirley of nearly 54 years, daughter Judy and son-in-law John Janusek and his precious grandchildren, Ashley, Ben and Carly. He is also survived by sisters Nancy and Mary Ann of Pennsylvania. He was predeceased by his brother Joseph Dorazio Jr. Kenneth Schulz Euken was born in 1921 in Cedar Rapids, IA, and went to heavenly home on February 21, 2013. Ken and his wife Marcie moved to Sun Lakes in 1993. They came out on a "try before you buy" weekend and Ken was so enthused, he decided on a place that same weekend. Ken served in the Arm in WWII for over four years. He worked for the Pasadena Star News for over 40 years. He was a member of the National Guild of Organists and served as a choir director as an organist in his Pasadena church for 35 years. In retirement, he enjoyed square dancing, the Friendship Club, was the piano player in Eli Howard's Big Band and played in another band called "The Geritones." He was an avid golfer, played bocce ball, performed in the Sun Lakes Follies and sang in the Chorale for 18 years. He loved cruises and the Sun Lakes trips. He always enjoyed making new friends and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Michael la Terra passed away March 30, 2013. He and his wife were married 31 happy years. They moved to Sun Lakes for the second time two years ago. He enjoyed bocce ball, pitch and putt and loved his family and friends. Sun Lakes Country Club was a special place to live. Alice G. Olsen age 95, joined her beloved husband Phillip in heaven on March 7, 2013. She passed peacefully in her sleep. She was born in Esterville, IA, raised at the "Iowa Soldiers Orphan Home," where she graduated from high school. Alice is survived by her brother, Willis Saxton, and four children, Janet, Ron, Phil and Craig four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her sister Eilene. She loved softball and played into her late 70s. She worked as a cashier for Hy-Vee stores in Des Moines for 30 years. After retiring, she shared morning coffee with friends and made quilts for her family, teaching others the art. The last 11 months of her life, she lived in Sun Lakes with her son and daughter-inlaw Ron & Annette Cox. She loved it more than she imagined and enjoyed dining at the Clubhouse and listening to music in the Lounge. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her. Steve Stone passed away on March 14, 2013, at the age of 76 after a valiant 16 year battle with Alzheimer's Disease. His wife, Diane, and their three children were at his side. Steve was a humorist whose writings and original characters entertained his audiences whether as an on-the-air radio personality or when he was writing about his travels through life. Even when he was unable to communicate anymore he still was able to sing with the Sun Lakes Chorale because of the aid and support of so many good Sun Lakers. We will all remember dearly this devoted husband and beloved father. We want to remember your loved ones in the "Friends We Will Miss" section, above, but we need your help.
