Each summer, fans eagerly await our local music festival. For many, it's a great opportunity to see the musical acts they grew up with and loved so much. It also gives moms and dads a chance to introduce their favorite music to their kids. Some diehard fans begin staking out their spots at 7 am on the day of a concert, setting out blankets, coolers and maybe an EZ Up Canopy tent. They'll have a friend or family member take turns watching their spot in the morning and then return in the afternoon for sound checks and the chance to meet recording legends and score autographs. The Concert Series is a family-friendly event. Children can enjoy the park, with its swings and special skateboarding area. Parents can bring a barbecue from home or fire up one of many grills in Stewart Park. Fans can enjoy hamburgers, hot dogs, soft drinks and bottled water as they wait for the music to begin. Beaumont provides community-minded police officers mingling with the crowd to offer assistance and make sure everyone has a good time. 14 BEAUMONT NOW | MAY 2013 So as our nation celebrates Independence Day, come out for the first in what promises to be a wonderful series of concerts this summer.
