The Pink Ukuladies & Gents The Pink Ukuladies & Gents continue to have fun with their Zoom application every week. Wearing pink hats, pink flowers, pink shirts, pink jackets, and big smiles, they create positive feelings that last throughout the week. Each participant has an opportunity to lead a song if they wish, providing performance expertise. The group looks forward to entertaining everyone as soon as it is possible. Thoughts and prayers for safety and good health are extended to all friends and neighbors of Sun Lakes. For more information about Pink Ukuladies & Gents, contact Director Lily Fedotowsky at (941) 662-0633, or visit the website at pinkukuladies.com. It has been a difficult time for performers of all kinds the last couple of months. Here in Sun Lakes, all our rehearsals, concerts, and plans for the next few months are on hold while we wait to see what the future brings. Personally, I've had an interesting journey. Of course, the lounge and Station Tap House gigs for Tin Man's Heart were all canceled through at least the end of May. And at this moment, we are not sure when they will resume. In addition, the two shows I was going to stage manage at Desert Theatricals in Rancho Mirage and the production I was going to perform in at Coronado Playhouse in San Diego were all canceled or postponed indefinitely. A consortium of 28 theaters in San Diego have come together to announce, "a joint statement of their united goal in supporting San Diego theater artists, audiences, and their communities during these challenging times." It is called ONE THEATRE. ONE STORY and is bringing a normally competitive industry together in mutual support. Together they will make joint decisions about what live theater will look like in the future. They will determine how to make sure everyone (from cast to supporting staff to audience members) is able to make theater magic in a world of social distancing and safety objectives. Live performing will look very different for some time to come and the decisions that are made in the next couple of months will make or break many venues – from small community theaters to large performing venues. We in Sun Lakes will have to make similar decisions and will need to trust in our Master Board and Administration and the Boards of each performing group to work together for the greater good of all. It may take a while before things look anything like what "normal" used to be. But as performers we will rise to the occasion. Because it is in our blood to entertain you. To make you laugh, cry, or just forget about the real world for a couple of hours. We hope to be there with you again very soon. Follow us on Facebook page "Sun Lakes Playhouse" and stay well, friends! Sun Lakes Follies As of this writing, we believe our June 18 general meeting will be canceled. However, if you are planning to perform in the Follies, please keep practicing! If you would like to help out behind the scenes, or with other jobs or just have questions, please give Olga Marquette, Membership, a call (951) 846-3579. The show will be here sooner than you think... Sun Lakes Does Vegas, Sept. 25, 26 and 27. Just in case: Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time. The Pink Ukuladies & Gents quickly adapted to the new normal and continued practicing "together" using the Zoom app.
