64 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JUNE 2020 | Mary Catherine Iannone, nee Weisbecker, was born on July 10, 1922 and passed away on April 10, 2020. Mary was the beloved wife of the late Charles P. Iannone; loving mother of Richard (Barbara), Claudene Bell (Clark), Cathy Mulleary (Alan), Michael (Julia); cherished grandmother of Jennifer (Kurt) Wittkow, Heather Iannone, Lauren (Myrah), Malissa (Enis) Akay, Alexander Iannone, and Cameron Iannone; much loved great- grandmother to Ashley, Natalie, Peyton, Ahna, Daniel, Jessica, Nathan, Allison, Ayla, and Emerson. Mary passed away at the age of 97 yrs 9 months in Las Vegas, NV. Her home was in Sun Lakes. She was born July 10, 1922 in Katrinstadt, Russia, the daughter of the late Alexander and Amelia (Bissing) Weisbecker. Mary came to the United States in 1922 from Russia at the age of four months. Her six siblings preceded her in passing: Eugenia Deiner, Julia Sitta, Martha Agnes, Anne Boland, Gladys Stahl, and Dolores Weisbecker. Frank (Smokey) Occhito born October 8, 1934, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on March 4, 2020 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Frank was born in Pittston, PA to Patrick and Theresa Occhiato, and was the second of three children. Frank was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and worked as Director of Operations at an aerospace company. He was an ordained pastor and retired in 1983. At age 60, Frank attended PGCC, a golf college, and loved making golf clubs for his friends. Frank and his wife Rita of 63 years moved to Sun Lakes in 2010. Frank loved playing golf, especially here in Sun Lakes on the championship course and always with his beloved wife Rita sitting next to him in the golf cart. Frank is survived by his wife Rita, his son Michael (Sylvia), his younger brother Tony, his grandson Frank, three step-granddaughters and four great-granddaughters. Richard (Dick) N. Taylor, long time Sun Lakes resident, passed away on April 6, 2020 at the age of 89 years. He was born in Colorado on August 29, 1930. Richard joined the United States Air Force at the age of 17 and served as a weather man in England, Africa, Germany, Korea, and multiple assignments in the United States. Following his military retirement, Richard received college degrees in Meteorology from Riverside City College and in Accounting from Cal Poly Pomona. He was later employed as an accountant for the California State Board of Equalization. Possessing a passion for antiques and relics, Richard also owned and operated his own antique business in Redlands, CA for over 20 years. Richard and wife, Bernadine (Bernie), resided in Riverside, CA over 25 years before retiring and moving to Sun Lakes in 1991. After Bernie's death in 1994, he met fellow Sun Laker, Helen Tompkins, and they were married in 1996. Richard was an avid golfer and bowler. He and Helen loved the Sun Lakes community and their many friends. They enjoyed participating in many Sun Lakes golf tournaments and bowled many years on Sun Lakes teams. They were members of the United Methodist Church of Banning. Helen passed away in May 2012. Richard is preceded in death by wives, Bernie, and Helen; mother, Alline Harriman; and uncle and aunt, John and Marilyn Taylor. He is survived by daughter, Terri; grandsons, Robert and Brandon; sisters, Darline (Leon) Cummings and Barbara Nelson; two cousins, Jana (John) Wenzel and Ron (Genia) Taylor of Nampa, Idaho; multiple nieces and nephews; and good friend, Lisa Park of Banning, CA. Richard was a supporter of Carol's Kitchen, a non-profit organization dedicated to feeding the hungry in the San Gorgonio Pass in Riverside County, CA.
