48 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JULY 2020 | The Friendship Club plans to bring back great entertainment to Sun Lakes on Sun., July 12 (fingers crossed), with The Lindy Sisters and The Great Omar, a magician/comedian. For this performance, members and non-resident guests will be socially distanced with chairs in the audience spaced farther apart. Masks are strongly recommended. The important thing is that when the Main Clubhouse reopens, support from club members will be a must to keep the fabulous shows coming. We encourage members to renew if they haven't already, and for new members to join now. Tickets for each show are $20 for members, $25 for guests. Doors open at 6 pm, show begins at 7 pm. Make checks out to Friendship Club, and deliver them to 5168 Rio Bravo Drive. For cancellations and information, call Pat at (951) 845-3789 or Leeann at (909) 973-3143. The Friendship Club Yiddish Culture Club July Fourth is here! We are glad Sun Lakes will have a golf cart parade, even if restricted. At least everything is moving along and opening. The YCC Board is not pursuing dues renewals at this time since membership cannot meet. The Board will look at options when it is assured the club can start up, and then decide how past and future dues will be handled. Another Membership Zoom meeting will be held July 8 at 6 pm — please join us. Zoom information will be sent to membership-watch for it. The club held a Zoom membership meeting last month and Board Meetings were held via Zoom also. Comments were solicited from our membership about how they have handled lockdown. The comments, as noted and disclosed, were edited due to word restrictions. If you do not see your comment, we will try to put the rest in August's article. Thank you for sharing. Judy W: I continue my volunteer work at HELP. Trying to get close to the end of a children's book I have been working on for some time. Lots of gardening to do. Nadine: Love to cook and write. Cooking special meals once a week for my son, something interesting and creative that he might not experience otherwise. Organizing other recipes that did not make it into my published cookbook. Kay: I have read several books that cover the struggles of the Jewish people over many generations: The Jewish Conquistadors of the 15th Century, The Jews of China, The Jews of the Caribbean, The Jews of Israel, during the days leading up to the declaration of Statehood. Judy M: Every book on my kindle is read. I continue to scour Netflix and Prime for any movies I may not have seen since the talkies. I have learned how wonderful it is to see, talk, eat, play, and just enjoy people. Ellie: For me, keeping my hands busy with art projects. Today- 3D Art, tomorrow, knitting a little baby sweater, yesterday-straightening out my photos by year — yes, hard copies! In between, a bit of painting! Out of necessity, I've groomed my sweet forgiving dog, Meatball, and my husband — who is as sweet and hopefully as forgiving! Sylvia: I have a new hobby — painting rocks for the Rock Fairy… bringing smiles to everyone. YCC contacts: Program questions, Diane Stone at (951) 769-0130. Membership, Diane Berley at (818) 943-6457. The Yiddish Culture Club welcomes all homeowners of any denomination Just in case: Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time.
