46 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JULY 2020 Just in case: Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time. TOPS Any season is a good time to get rid of clutter. Due to COVID-19 we have time to do a little bit extra. Instead of eating, how about spring cleaning? We might want to look around us and think about all the "things" we have. Spring is a great time to make positive changes in our lives that help us feel renewed. At any season, getting organized and getting rid of things we no longer value is a great way to get a fresh start. Did you know that clearing clutter can be a significant stress reliever and an energy booster? When we have too much "stuff," we often feel overwhelmed by the responsibility of taking care of so many things or we feel claustrophobic. We can feel like our lives have become controlled by our many possessions. Clutter-clearing experts say that sorting out your life by sorting out your junk will eventually result in your feeling lighter and having more energy. So, how does it work? The experts recommend that you consider the following categories: 1. Things you do not use or love 2. Things that are untidy or disorganized 3. Too many things in too small a space 4. Anything broken or unfinished – fix, finish or get rid of it! The experts recommend that you start small. Don't take on your entire house or garage all at once, and don't try to address all four of the above categories at the same time. If you're overwhelmed, chances are you may just give up and go shopping for some more stuff! What to do this week: 1. Begin by walking around your house and making a list of cluttered areas that need attention. Prioritize them in terms of their importance. 2. Next to each area, write down the resources that will be needed to clear the clutter (bags, boxes, etc.). 3. Choose an area to tackle first to make clutter a thing of the past. Start small with one room or even one drawer at a time. 4. Give it a try. If you tackle this you may feel "lighter" and you will keep busy. You may even work off a few COVID pounds. Our hikers headed up Hwy. 243 to the forest service road overlooking all of San Gorgonio Pass plus Cajon Pass to Yucca Valley. It was a good workout after so many "lockdown" requirement days. The group hiked to the top of the Azalea Creek waterfall for a good five-mile round trip.
