Just in case: Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time.
Travel Group
As I write this the economy is just beginning to come back.
Businesses are allowed to reopen with restrictions. The travel
industry is also preparing to reopen. New government regulations
of the industry have not yet been issued. Therefore, at this time
travel-related companies are in the process of establishing their own
regulations. A number of our residents have contacts in the travel
industry. We would appreciate hearing from you if you do have
additional information/updates so that we can pass the information
on to FSB residents. Following is the information we have to date:
Air Travel: TSA will take longer to screen. They have enacted a
health screening precheck. Be prepared to take longer getting though
security. Supposedly most airlines will not book center seats. Some,
not all, airlines are requiring that passengers wear face masks. Some
airlines have established new cleaning procedures of planes between
flights.
Cruise ships: Health screening and temperature checks will be part
of the pre-boarding process which means it will take longer to board.
New cleaning procedures have been established for ships. Cruise lines
are scheduling sailings to start in August and September. Most will
have lower occupancy rates. Nothing has been said about wearing
masks or social distancing.
Hotels/Motels: The hospitality industry has established new
cleaning protocols for members. Protocols may be found at https://
www.ahla.com/sites/default/files/safestayguidelines060320_0.pdf.
Be aware, not all hotels/motels will strictly follow these. Be sure to
ask about the health/safety measures taken by the site when making
reservations.
Many countries are starting to reopen. Most should be reopened
by July.
Last but not least: Sorry folks, it's a given that buffets are a thing of
the past. ~ Irene Welker, irenewelker55@gmail.com
