SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | JULY 2020 13 As told to Theresa Rossetti, Resident Hi everyone! My name is Lacey Hyman and I'm a new kid on the block here at SDV. Although I don't remember much from when I was a puppy, I do know that I used to have a different last name, but my Mom got sick and she couldn't take care of me anymore. She brought me back to the nice people at Retrievers and Friends of Southern California where I lived once before. There I met my new mom and dad and now I live here with them and all of you. People tell me I'm a King Charles Spaniel/Dachshund mix. I don't know what that means but I'm pretty sure it means I'm very cute. So far, I'm getting to know my new family, my new home and my new neighborhood. My first day here I was very excited, but maybe a little nervous, and had the Zoomies before I could settle down. Now I am settling into my new home, I have a nice bed to snuggle in and my spot under the thing in the ceiling that blows cool air on me while we all watch TV. I do stay with Mom and Dad at night because I really want to be with them all the time. When they go out, I get a little scared, but we're all working on making me feel safe and happy here. I also like taking my walks, seeing the bunnies and geckos 'cause they're smaller than I am! I like all the people I've met, but I'm a little afraid of the other doggos, so please, if I growl at your pupper, forgive me while I get used to being around so many others like me. A number of devotees to this traditional Chinese exercise, which combines movement, breathing and concentration in a meditative practice with many health benefits, are meeting outdoors, masked and socially distanced, to continue to work on their focus, balance and self-awareness. Tai Chi, Anyone?
