26 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | AUGUST 2020 | Chorale In order to stay safe, protect ourselves from the virus, and comply with local regulations, the Chorale of Sun Lakes will not be meeting again this year, nor will we present our annual Holiday Concert in December. We hope to meet again as a Chorale in January 2021 to prepare for a Spring Concert. To maintain our connection as a Chorale family, we meet via Zoom every Monday morning at 9:30 am. Interested residents are welcome to join us. We have room for 100 guests. There is a simple YouTube video called "Joining a Zoom Call for the First Time; Fun and Easy Online Connection." It explains the easy steps to join a Zoom call for the first time. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9isp3qPeQ0E) For more information, contact Chorale Director Mark Faber at (951) 797-0120, or dmfaber@me.com, or Secretary Linda Vieira at (951) 797-0315, or lvieira@eltree.com. As most of us music fans know, many songs are difficult to remember by name especially when it comes to instrumental music hits such as Stranger On The Shore by Mr. Acker Bilk or Theme From A Summer Place by Percy Faith. Unless an instrumental has a one word lyric giveaway in the song itself as for example Tequila by The Champs or Wipe Out by The Surfaris, you would be hard-pressed to figure out the title of any instrumental piece. Well, harder yet when it comes to song titles, is trying to figure out a song's title when it is nowhere in the song lyrics such as Annie's Song by John Denver. It's a very familiar song when you hear it but hard to place it by title. Here is a list of very popular hit songs that do not have the song title in the lyrics. 1. Sukiyaki, by Kyu Sakamoto 2. A Lover's Concerto, by The Toys 3. Ode To Billie Joe, by Bobbie Gentry 4. The Chipmunk Song, by David Seville and The Chipmunks 5. El Condor Pasa, by Simon & Garfunkel 6. For What It's Worth, by The Buffalo Springfield 7. Suite Judy Blue Eyes, by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young 8. Land Of A Thousand Dance, by Cannibal And The Headhunters Also Wilson Pickett 9. Battle Of New Orleans, by Johnny Horton 10. Unchained Melody, by The Righteous Brothers Also by Al Hibler 11. Sunshine Superman, by Donovan 12. Bohemian Rhapsody, by Queen 13. Bizarre Love Triangle, by New Order 14. Ballad Of John & Yoko, by The Beatles 15. The Rain, The Park & The Other Things, by The Cowsills 16. Twenty Flight Rock, by Eddie Cochran 17. Positively 4th Street, by Bob Dylan 18. 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy), by Harpers Bizarre 19. The Weight, by The Band 20. Smells Like Teen Spirit, by Nirvana Barb Miller, Rosie Ingalls and myself D.J. Blast are eager to see all of you again once we get back on a normal footing. Please try and continue following the safety guidelines of social distancing and wearing your protective face covers. Until we hear from the folks in charge that it's alright to have Karaoke in our little paradise called Sun Lakes Resort, you may want to look up many of the songs I've listed in this blurb on YouTube. Maybe you'll come up with other tunes who's song title is not in the song lyric. So as we always say, stay safe and when we get the OK to start up again… we will keep a warm disinfected mic. on for you Karaoke Group Just in case: Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time.
