50 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2020 We hope you all had a fun and safe Fourth of July. Just a reminder, don't forget to wear a mask while walking through The Lodge. We are still required to stand six feet apart for continued mandatory social distancing on the courts. There is still no gathering around or sitting on the courts' benches. There have been questions regarding Pickleball protocol and rules: 1. The calling of "out" or "in" the court has been questioned. The receiving team makes the call for any balls on their side of the court. Your partner should be watching the ball closely so he or she can help with the call of "out" or "in." Once the call has been made that is the end of discussion and the play continues. 2. When the ball accidentally goes into another court, call, "ball on." Do not retrieve the ball yourself. Ask the team on the other court to retrieve the ball for you. This is necessary as a matter of safety for all the players involved. Beginner classes have resumed. The class are on the second Saturday of every month on the following dates: Aug. 8, Sept. 12, Oct. 10, Nov. 14, Dec. 12. Come and join in the fun and informative class. No paddle sport experience is necessary. Court shoes are required to play on the courts. Also, evening play has been changed to 6 pm. Stay safe and play on. ~ Yundell Montalbo-Linton Yundell@aol. com Pickleball Just in case: Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time. Despite the fact that there are still a few restrictions imposed on our tennis courts here at Four Seasons, it's encouraging to see more and more players coming out to enjoy the game once again. To their credit, most, if not all, of the players are adhering to the guidelines and doing their part to help keep our community safe! Even though the Tennis Club has not yet been able to reinstate all the regular functions and activities, the Club Executive Committee has been working hard to get approvals to open up more and more of the facilities at The Courts, e. g., extending play time until 9 pm, allowing use of the benches inside the courts, use of the ball machine, etc. So, please be patient. Things are starting to look up! During the past several weeks, I personally have gone out and played a few times at The Courts. I felt very safe due to the physical distance among the players. So, if you still feel a bit skeptical, I would encourage you to go out and give it a try. Be sure to make reservations as the courts are becoming more and more popular. See you all on the courts! Although many members are still somewhat leary of playing an indoor sport in this COVID-19 era, those who have ventured out to play have been extremely diligent in wearing their masks and practicing social distancing. In addition, any balls that we use during play are completely sanitized prior to being stored back in the cabinet and all of our paddles are continually wiped down as well. To enhance social distancing, at this time we are restricted to playing singles on only two tables, which are situated on each side of The Courts' Multipurpose Room. For those of you who are thinking about returning to the game, you can be extremely confident that the health and safety of all ping pong players are our number one concern. Be well and stay safe! ~ Bob Rubenstein, brube88@gmail.com Ping Pong Tennis Club We still get a good turnout on most days. Stay safe and please mask up. We are now back to our summer play schedule which is from 5 to 7 pm. We play every day except Tuesdays and Thursdays. For more information, please contact Alan Chan at (310) 251-9269 or Alex Castano at (909) 746-7529. ~ Alan Chan Paddle Tennis Masked and socially distanced paddle players Basketball Everyone is welcome. We meet at the basketball court Fridays starting at 5 pm. Bring your energy and be prepared to have some fun. ~ Richard Hoffman
