Life seems a bit different now and it appears that the day- by-day wait for normalcy to reinstate itself is further off than we had hoped. As far as the Activities Department goes, keeping the community connected and engaged, at least virtually, is our goal. This is new territory that we're venturing into and the boundaries of what we can engage in always seem uncertain. How does this translate into activity offerings and community harmony? Well, we've been asked to plan on the side of safety. That means that even if the Governor lifts the restrictions on event gatherings, we'll most likely be conservative in our planning. I'm already thinking about what the holidays will look like with social distancing and am planning outside celebrations if we're released to do so. Start planning now for a big home and street decorating contest. If we still can't go anywhere by then, it would sure be fun to create a wonderland in the neighborhood! Gee, if we think we need a morale boost now, can you imagine how important a morale boost will be for us then? Have you ever seen those neighborhoods in Rancho Cucamonga that people get so excited to drive through during December? How about if we see if we can do something like that? This year instead of having our annual Holiday Extravaganza, I'm going to propose an event called "The Grand Illumination." On Nov. 28 and 29, right after Thanksgiving, we could light up the neighborhood with surprises! We'd have a whole month to enjoy the spirit of the holidays. I realize that this is a little ways off, but start thinking about what your street might want to do to participate. Obviously, more details will be forthcoming. On a closer note, there have been folks already talking about what we should do for Halloween and Thanksgiving. This is a good time for you to start sending me your ideas and I'll put them together with BOD approval for some fun community offerings. As we speak about the uncertain times we're in right now, I want to remind you that the best place to find the most recent activities and events is by checking out our Monday, Wednesday, and Friday Activities Corner Blast. We are coming up with things all the time there, so if you're not getting those email blasts, be sure to call The Lodge and ask for Nelly. She'll walk you through the process of getting signed up. It has certainly been a weird summer at Four Seasons but I'm telling you… next year we're going to party like never before! Stay positive, everyone — with each other's help we'll get through this. Take care and I'll see you around The Lodge. Activities Director Corner
