STOP READING THIS… unless COVID-19 has not
forced you to make big changes in your life. The virus
has caused many of us to become fearful of the outdoors
and fearful of others. It has closed our pools, our gyms
and some public trails where we used to exercise. It has
eliminated shopping the malls. It has made us seek delivery
of pizza, groceries, and comfort food. Many of us are cooking
things we have never made before. This combined with boredom has
caused many Californians to gain five, 10 or even 15 pounds in the
last three months. None of the things mentioned above are part of a
healthy lifestyle. We know this, but we are trapped!
Well, TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) can provide one answer.
Previously we used Zoom, but now we meet once a
week in the Ballroom. We weigh and visit with each
other while wearing masks, of course. We talk about
nutrition and proper eating, and we share experiences
and recipes. Motivation is a key to behavior change and
the TOPS website, weekly meetings, and a TOPS magazine
have lots of clever ideas to keep us on the right track.
We are meeting now safely with masks and social distancing. Why
not join us and make a healthy difference in your life today? We meet

We recently traveled up to Idyllwild and the Ernie Maxwell trail. Our turn-around
point is at the base of Tahquitz Peak, the extreme rock climbing training rock. We hiked
in with tall forest pines, running streams, spring flowers, and even an unfriendly snake.
Our club members have chosen this trail as our most favorite hike.
Lunch was outdoors at Tommy's, another favorite.
