| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | August 2020 | 15 Social Committee Access Control Committee A big thank you to all participants of the Fourth of July golf cart parade and to all residents who came out to cheer and celebrate from home. It was a great way to show our patriotic spirit! The Social Committee provided parade participants with water, patriotic props, and an American flag to add to the merriment. There were over 40 carts uniquely decorated in red, white, and blue splendor proudly weaving through our community. Thank you to Julie Rodriguez who brought some of her extra handmade masks to hand out. This year, in light of all the craziness, the parade provided a fun, much needed way to enjoy and kick off Independence Day! Although you might not be able to tell in every photo, there are big smiles underneath each mask. Barbara Rago's cart was chosen to win a Bistro gift certificate for capturing the "Spirit of the 4th of July." Thank-you to Donna and Mike McLaughlin for organizing the parade. Did you miss the virtual scavenger hunt on July 7? The Social Committee hosted the game using the Zoom application that can be downloaded from any computer, phone, or tablet. Players had two minutes to find miscellaneous items in the home and return to show the host. Points were awarded for each item found. A tie breaker was used to award the winner a gift certificate to the Bistro. Two game sessions were played. The lucky winners were Margo Dennis from game #1 and Paul and Betty Barr from game #2. It was a lot of fun and we hope you will join us next time! After many hours (actually years) of meetings, discussions and deliberations, the Access Control Committee continues to research and discuss ways to implement "traffic calming" within our community. These discussions include options of installing four-way stop signs (three-way stop at "T" intersections) and speed humps (vs. bumps) where speed is a clear and present danger to pedestrians, bicyclists, and folks just out for a casual walk or walking their dogs. Do you have a concern of speeders in your section of the community? If so, you may wish to complete a form that may be picked up from The Lodge Attendant stating your concern. We hope to have more information to share in the coming months. Committees are always looking for new members. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Access Control Committee, please see The Lodge Attendant for an application. Our committee meets the second Wednesday of the month at 9 am in the Board Conference Room. Due to CDC guidelines, meetings may change.
