Golf Club 26 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | August 2020 | We are hoping to do our sign-ups on Aug. 27 in the Ballroom for Shuffleboard, but only if restrictions for gatherings have been lifted. Maybe we will be able to start our shuffleboard league, but the way things look as of this writing, I doubt it. A decision will have to be made by the committee the first part of August. Remember there is a small group that plays on Monday and Friday for fun and practice. This group is 10 or less players per guidelines. If you are new to the game this is a great way to learn or if you are seasoned player this is a way to practice. Any resident can check out the Shuffleboard equipment. If you are interested, go to the front desk and they will explain the checkout procedure If you have any questions regarding Shuffleboard, you can email me at toniharris63@verizon.net or call me at (951) 325-8357. Stay cool. Hope we can all be together soon. Shuffleboard Well here we are in July. If we were playing, the season would be over and we would have had our awards banquet. Congrats to the winners. HA HA. Unfortunately, there was nothing we could do about the situation. The good news is that things are starting to ease up a little. We can use the bocce courts (even though they are in bad shape) for practice as long as social distancing is observed as much as possible and masks are worn (optional). There can not be more than 10 persons in the area at one time. It might not be perfect, but for the ones who are having Bocce withdrawals, it is better than nothing. Remember that any resident of Four Seasons may sign out the Bocce equipment and play at any time. The Lodge attendant will be happy to assist you. They will take you to the spa building where the older equipment is stored and give it to you for your use. You would then return the bag to the door of the storage room and let The Lodge attendant know that you are finished. They will put it back at their leisure. For info, contact Dennis Harris at (951) 325-8357 or email dharris327@verizon.net. Bocce Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, & time. From the President – Gary Sopata: We are back on the train! Great participation for the last month as we opened up our club play last month. Thanks to all of our members for supporting our club! And that pizza party we had in the Clubhouse was awesome… thanks to Debbie James and the Hemet Golf Club! From Greens Liaison – Bill Barnes: According to General Manager Ray Lapointe, the golf course is preparing to cut down the trees on hole #6. As anyone who has played recently knows, you can no longer see the fairway from the white tee box and unless you hit a high tee shot, the trees are going to claim your ball. The problem has been the residual water left over from rains last winter doesn't allow machinery or men to get to the trees so they can be removed. Pumping should begin soon to alleviate this issue. In other developments, the golf course is currently aerating the rough throughout the entire course in the effort to grow more grass and improve conditions. This was done earlier in the year to the fairways and it definitely helped. Ray has been very open to concerns expressed by the Club, so please let me know if you have something you would like bought to his attention. From the Membership Chair – Marilyn Edmonds: We welcome Richard Woynoskie and Michael Caldwell to our club. We now have 127 members. From the Tournament Chair - Elliot Yaeger: You may sign up for golf at the golf course prior to Tuesday's golf event or send an email to hemet4sgc@gmail.com by Monday noon.
