Happy summer nights of August! It looks like we will have all the outdoor recreational areas open for the rest of the summer months. That's hoping all the mandated guidelines remain the same. We were able to add the "Float and Stretch" area to the pool reservations. With listening to the many requests to open more lanes, we heard from a resident that said he is 94 years old, and lap swimming was no longer possible, but he just needs a time to "float and stretch" his bones, thus, this new spot was created and added to the pool scheduling calendar. It appears we have back to back reservations all day long. The evening hours are somewhat sporadic, but there are those that are our night owls, and they come alive once the sun goes down. Only two reservations per household. Be sure to cancel a reservation, as this will allow others to book the time. Reservations can be made online or by phone. Call (760) 758-8772 and the staff will assist with helping to navigate the system. The Dog Park is now open beginning at 11 am and closing at 8 pm, seven days a week. Hand sanitizer is available at the entrance and masks are required. The area is limited to three people at a time. Please sign in upon entering. Each resident and pet can use the area for 45 minutes. There are three benches for seating, so users can stay socially distant. Staff will monitor the usage and sanitize throughout the day. A special shout out to all our Fourth of July Parade participants. We had approximately 70 vehicles, all donning face masks, and the patriotism was evident. We appreciate all of the spectators that came out to cheer the caravan along. Residents waved flags and neighbors saw neighbors they had not seen in a while. Just to stand in the parking lot and socialize, from afar, was so refreshing. Thank you to Residents Sid Zimman, Grand Marshal, and Richard Quandt, Sid's enthusiastic escort, for leading us through the beautiful OHCC landscape on a gorgeous Saturday morning. As Sid drove by his daughter, she was positioned along the route, "Dad" stood up and gave a salute. Scott Lemieux of Securitas and his officers were right there to assist, out in front and bringing up the rear. With enthusiasm, they kept us all in line and made sure everyone was safe, thank you everyone for your overwhelming support! We hope you have found ways to enjoy the summer. These past few months have been a challenge for all of us. It certainly has sparked our creative abilities, making us all more grateful for what we have and more aware of the blessings in our lives. The Clubhouse hallways may be quiet for now, but there is a great day coming; stay hopeful, and stay well!
