GM's Message By Wendy Panizza I hope this issue of OHCC Living finds you safe and well. The May gray and June gloom are gone, and beautiful summer days are here! As I prepare this message in the middle of July, I reflect on what we've been able to accomplish during this unprecedented event in modern history. On March 20, California was essentially shut down and staff was sent home. But for the great work of the maintenance team on- site to continue the Clubhouse renovations and provide maintenance services for OHCC, most of us found space in our dining rooms and living rooms to set up at-home offices to continue the essential work of the HOA and Clubhouse. We paid bills, processed ARC applications, assisted in escrow transactions, and responded to a plethora of questions and comments from residents; and we got to know the FedEx guy better than ever. We discovered, and have now perfected, Zoom for both Board and Committee meetings, and I expect this to be a very useful tool even at such time we are permitted to open up fully. The response from the community has been fantastic, and we appreciate everyone's participation in the Master Board meetings. For instructions on how to use Zoom, we have added a news article to the home page of the website, www.oceanhillscountryclub.com, entitled "What in the World is Zoom?" for your perusal. Staff has been back in the HOA office and Clubhouse full time since the last week in June, and while the county continues its Safer At Home guidelines, we have come to realize a new normal. We take and record the temperature of every staff member prior to being permitted to work each day. We have built plexiglass dividers between and on top of desks to ensure safe distancing requirements, and staff members wear masks throughout the day when they are not at their workstations. We sanitize surfaces regularly. Even under the restrictions, we are so happy to be back on site providing "curbside" services to residents using canopies and tables outside the HOA office. Many of you know we receive email posts from residents daily, both for and against enforcing the county health orders. For the safety of residents and for the protection of the Association from claims relating to the spread of this deadly disease, we are taking this very seriously and reopening facilities gradually. We are required to post signage, our Safe Reopening Plan, monitor access to facilities and adherence to the rules, and sanitize frequently. Facilities that are reopened with appropriate restrictions include the golf course and the golf course restrooms, the sports courts, bocce ball, the swimming pool and outdoor shower, and the restrooms at the golf casa. In an effort to continue the good work of the Woodchucks to make toys for Camp Pendleton families, we have opened the woodshop with restrictions. The Board approved a request for a "Donation Drive-Thru" sponsored by the Garden Club to accept donations to buy toys to supplement the handmade toys. The event is a no contact drive-thru, or walk up donation collections using a one-way driving system. The collection buckets will be manned by volunteers, standing six feet apart wearing masks and gloves in order to meet safety guidelines. The event is scheduled for Sat., Aug. 29 from 9 am to noon at the Overflow Parking Lot, and we hope for a great turnout for this very worthy event. At the time of this writing, we have just added a "Float and Stretch" area in the swimming pool, and you may access the link for reservations by going to the OHCC website and clicking on the Recreation tab, and then the Recreation Calendar. Then click on the Pool Booking Reservation to access the system. You may also call the Clubhouse at (760) 758-8772 to make a reservation. We also opened the Dog Park, with restrictions, and, by the time you read this, we will have resumed the Bus Services provided by No Vacancy Transport! Alas, as I was writing the rules to simultaneously open the weight and cardio rooms at the Clubhouse to accommodate more fitness activities for residents, the county pulled back on the guidelines and restricted indoor activities. This is obviously a very fluid situation. We will continue to be extremely cautious and cannot encourage, at this time, gatherings within the community. As we consider and expect to reopen more facilities as the guidelines permit, we must also consider the requirements for scheduling, monitoring adherence to the rules, and signage and sanitation protocols. To get the most updated health orders on your computer, you may type in San Diego health order in your search engine to find the link to the County's website. Thank you all sincerely for your continued support and encouragement. Please know we will get through this together! 4 | OHCC LIVING | AUGUST 2020 |
