As told to Theresa Rossetti, Resident
Hello, fellow residents of my community!
My name is Sergeant Roppé. As a baby kitten
I was found by a lady who couldn't take care
of me, so she brought me to the Hemet Police
Station. That's where I met my human Mom.
I knew right away she was the one for me.
Then my human Dad showed up and they
brought me to my forever home. They tried
to get me to eat some yucky formula stuff,
but I was having none of that! Canned food
I craved, and canned food I got. Then I took
a nice long nap. After that I met my sister,
Ginger, who understood right away that I was
the Boss Cat in the house. Here's a picture of
me letting her know who's who now.
They named me Sergeant, after Mom
Lynn's boss. It's a good name, since I knew
I was in charge here. One time someone else
came to the house thinking they might adopt
me. I looked that person in the eye and let
them know right away that I was staying put
right where I was! I'm seven years old now,
so obviously I was correct.
Unlike the barky creatures that live around
here (in my opinion there are way too many
of them!), I don't go outside very much. I
like to hang out in the house, patrolling it to
make sure everything is going just right. I
like Mom and Dad. They come and go all the
time, knowing I'll take care of things here.
When they're home Mom and I like to watch
TV and Dad understands that one of his jobs
is to give me tickles at bedtime, which are
really nice.
I'm not a fan of visitors, since they
interrupt my house patrol duties. When
"the doorbell" rings I make sure to scatter!
That's the only time I move quickly, since
sauntering is way more in my nature.
Mom Lynn does sometimes drive my
throne around the neighborhood, so that
you know I'm keeping my eyes on you as
well.
Editor's Note: Sergeant's "throne" is a
zippered enclosed pet stroller, but please
don't tell him that!
