10 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2020 | Sun Lakes Advisory Committee Reports We are happy to see more Advisory Committees submitting articles about the important work they are doing in Sun Lakes. Our goal is to have all active Advisory Committees share their news here each month. Thank you in advance for everyone's participation! The Lifestyles Advisory Committee is pleased to welcome our newest member, Robin Warner. Robin's term goes through December of 2021 and we are grateful that she is joining us. Working on the Lifestyles Magazine these past months has been interesting and it has called for a bit of flexibility and creativity to get the job done. A big "shout out" to our Committee members who pitched in, worked from home, and were willing to do their part. Of course, none of this would be possible without Courtney Taylor and Stacey Parr of Image Up Advertising & Design, to whom we are very grateful for this wonderful publication. We look forward each month to hearing from all of the Clubs, Committees and other contributors, including all the outstanding photos we receive. Keep them coming! Lifestyles Advisory Library Advisory Our libraries were open but closed again due to state recommendations regarding COVID-19. When the libraries are closed, books, puzzles, audio books and DVDs are available on the front patio at 5354 W. Pinehurst Dr. When the libraries re-open, the Main Clubhouse library hours will be 9 to 11 am and 1 to 3 pm Wednesdays through Saturdays, and the North Clubhouse library from 1 to 3 pm only Wednesdays through Saturdays. The South Clubhouse library is open 8 am to 8 pm every day. There will be monitors at the Main and North libraries to insure social distancing, i.e. one person in each library at a time unless from the same household. Masks are required, temperatures will be taken, and gloves and sanitizer are available in each library. Enjoy, be strong, safe and happy! Bingo Advisory Hello to our players and friends! We are all missing Tuesday Night Bingo and hopefully "back to normal" is just around the corner. Although we are not playing Bingo at this time, the Bingo Advisory Committee has been hard at work to maintain our charitable contributions as we have in the past. The committee is happy and proud to announce we have donated $2,000 to the Sun Lakes Charitable Trust Fund for the 2020 fundraiser. Everything is tentative, but we are looking forward to a grand reopening of Bingo as guidelines permit in 2021. Until then stay safe and be well! Any questions? Call Toni at (951) 769-4579 or Karen at (951) 797-3817. Safety Advisory The Safety Advisory Committee was happy to resume meeting on July 27. We welcomed the new board liaison Bob Walter, as well as the new Securitas Officer, Jay Cregeen. Our most critical topic of discussion was the traffic on Sun Lakes Blvd., especially at Gates 3 and 4. Residents have frequently observed vehicles failure to stop at this intersection. It is especially dangerous for golf cart traffic. The committee was assured that Banning PD will be requested to patrol this area more frequently for failure to stop traffic, as well as the no parking violations. Residents who do not have "street legal" carts should also be aware they may be subject to citations while driving on public streets. While the Board has yet to finalize the rules for speeding, failure to stop at stop signs, and other traffic infractions within Sun Lakes, we implore residents to observe all rules of the road for the safety of other drivers as well as pedestrians. If you have a safety issue you would like the committee to review, please contact Jean Dobson at (909) 731-4113.
