32 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 2020 Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time. Summer is here and the heat is ON! Our mission is unchanged — to learn, share, and have fun with photography. But during the "Big Chill Spring/Summer 2020" we execute the mission in a different way. In August, we started our first round of Zoom club meetings. Although as of this writing, meetings have yet to be held, all members are very excited to be able to meet and see one another on Zoom. Our meeting agenda will not change. We will review tips and tricks, discuss a selected subject or genre and assign a monthly photo challenge. We will review the challenge submissions from the previous month and discuss future topics and outings. July's challenge was to devise and assemble creative setups in our own backyards or patios to attract and photograph our local non- predator wildlife. Think birds, lizards, praying mantis, lady bugs, etc. My neighbor, Charlie Leger, graciously invited me to photograph his hummingbird family. Charlie's hummingbirds have been nesting on his patio for the last seven years and counting. Below is one of the images I was able to get of the mother feeding her young. Watching the life cycle of hummingbirds over the years has brought Charlie much joy, and I'm so grateful for his willingness to share these jewels of Mother Nature. The hanger pictured is a favorite of hummingbird moms for nest building. Make sure there is food, shade, and water close by and you too will be rewarded someday soon. I recommend setting up a birdbath type of vessel, not too deep and above it arrange a secure branch allowing birds to perch and contemplate their approach to the water. Then set up and compose your planned images on the branch. The birds will come. I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing about your backyard adventures! Until next we meet… from all of us in the Four Seasons Photography Club to all of our wonderful neighbors, we send you a big hug. Smile and say BREEZZZEEEE, and take those pictures! But first and foremost, Stay in Place – Maintain your Space – Cover your Face. ~ ReNae Stueve, renaestueve@outlook.com PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB Above: Charlie's Angels by ReNae Stueve Top right: Gambel's Quail on Fence by Bob Rubenstein Right: Pool Party by John Baeyertz
