52 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 2020 The pandemic has obviously taken its toll on how everyone goes about carrying on with their daily lives; going on motorcycle rides is no exception. When we are actually traveling down the road on one of our weekly group rides, good social distancing is a given. Each rider is on his own motorcycle, well apart from each other. It's when we stop for lunch or breaks that we are reminded it's not business as usual. With many restaurants closed, we are now often packing our lunches and pulling over when we find a nice shady lunch spot. This is actually working out to be an enjoyable alternative to restaurants and fast food. The good news is that life goes on, with a few adjustments, and that includes continuing to go on our Thursday rides. Also, we continue to plan for our nine-day ride to Oregon, which is scheduled for September. We will be heading up the 395 on our way to Oregon then down the coast on Hwy 1. This ride has been in the works for nearly a year now. Working out the logistics for an extended ride is always difficult and the pandemic restrictions have made the planning even more challenging. Things that we always take for granted such as restaurants being open for business and restrooms that are open to the public are no longer a given. A lot of pre-planning has been required for this upcoming ride including having backup plans in place. Eight members will be going on this ride. As stated above, life goes on and that includes a group of friends all enjoying nine glorious days of riding and camaraderie. And speaking of Thursday rides, with the hot summer months upon us, the Four Seasons Motorcycle Club (MC) has been moving up the departure time when the weather forecast is calling for a particularly hot day. We normally depart promptly at 9 am for what is usually a four to six hour round-trip ride. However, on very hot days we are now departing at 7:30 am, which gets us back home well ahead of the peak heat. If you are thinking of becoming a member of the MC and want to join us on an upcoming Thursday ride, please join us! However, make sure to call a day before the ride to confirm the departure time. You can call our club president, Terry Humble, at (909) 706-2298 or secretary Joe Bert at (909) 767-1484 or vp Jim Ayala at (951) 392-6259. ~ Jim Ayala, jimrayala95@gmail.com Motorcycle Club Above: Recent ride to Big Bear Lake from (L-R): Joe Bert, Bill Steele, Charles Price, Terry Humble, Bob Howard, Tim Mixon Top right: After lunch near Lake Henshaw: Bob Howard, Dave Burchartz, Jim Ayala Right: On the way back from the Santa Rosa Plateau: Bernie Albanese, Dave Burchartz, Paco Paez, Bob Howard Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time.
