FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 2020 23 By Cindy Graves Quarantine month number seven! Holy cow! Is everyone now sporting their complete sets of mask-ware — elegant-night-out- a ro u n d - t h e - v i r t u a l - Z o om - h a pp y - h o u r masks? Sleek-and-sexy-late-evening masks to wear with that special someone? Cleaning- and-gardening masks as well as the going- to-the-doctor or shopping masks? I have a whole mask wardrobe for whatever the occasion requires and now I actually have a mask laundry day too! I'll invite you all to the huge mask bonfire we'll have to have when this pandemic stuff is over with. On to events for September…. September is "Pie-it-Forward" month from Sept. 1 through Sept. 29. What is the Pie-it-Forward campaign? Everyone knows that this has been an especially difficult time for the Kopper Kettle as well for everyone else. Now there's a way to "kill two birds with one stone," so to speak. I was able to get the Kopper Kettle to create a "Pie Gram" where you can purchase a pie of your choice for a friend, relative, or neighbor who may need a morale boost. The Kopper Kettle will deliver the pie within the Four Seasons community (or you can pick it up) with a cute little card that expresses your sentiments to your pie recipient. This little gesture helps to encourage and support both your sweet friend and the Kopper Kettle. As an added incentive, all the names of the people who purchase a pie during this campaign will be entered into a drawing to win a large adorable "Happy Pill." Thank you for joining us in this exercise in community support. Nothing goes better with pie than comedy! On Saturday, Sept. 5 (Time TBD) we have another opportunity to click into Jason Loves' Comedy Show with a variety of comedians. I'll be there to welcome you and this time it's free of charge so you can put the $5 that you would have spent on comedy into making your friend smile with the pie. Be watching for the live link that will be in the Activities Corner Blast on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday on the week of the show. See you there from your living room! For those folks who love to bake, do art, and photograph your masterpieces, this fun competition should be perfect for you! It's a Cookie decorating competition. All you have to do is send a quick email to my Activities Associate Rachel.stone@fsresidential.com to let us know that you're interested from the end of August through Sept. 6. For $10, you will get a cookie decorating kit that we're putting together which will include sprinkles, food coloring, sugar stir needle, and a competition cookie cutter. The Kopper Kettle is also offering to sell tubs of premade cookie dough for $6 so you're really ready to go! If you have dietary restrictions, please feel free to make your own dough. What will you be inspired to put on your cookie canvas? You'll be picking up your cookie decorating kit at The Lodge on Tuesday, Sept. 15. Bake, decorate, and photograph your best dressed cookie masterpieces before Sept. 25 and send your photos to Rachel's email above. We'll be announcing two winners on Monday, Sept. 28 on the Activities Corner Blast… Good luck! OK, here's our potential big curbside pick-up wine tasting event! Right now we're planning on doing this unique event on Thursday, Sept. 17 at 4:30 pm. The wine flight will be from Wiens Winery in Temecula for only $15 per person. They will be providing wonderful boxes of separate four-ounce pours of three red wines and two white wines including an option to purchase their bestselling $30 orange champagne for only $10 that night only. You even get a Wiens wine glass in every box. The Kopper Kettle is also offering a delicious appetizer to go menu that night, so you'll want to check that out. Your wine flight purchase will entitle you to an amazing Zoom evening hosted by the actual wine maker, acting as sommelier, leading residents through the fascinating nuances of the enclosed tastings. He will also give us a virtual tour through the winery as well. Wiens is even offering a club price discount to our participating residents for additional wine that might be desired as a result of the new tastings. This wine will be delivered the week after the event to The Lodge for curbside pickup again. Keep your ear to the ground regarding the latest information (or keep it on the Activities Corner Blasts). I'm right now in a hearing with the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control to see what they will require of us. They have not as yet come across a venue that is having a curbside event with no drinking on-site. Right now they are not allowed to sell one-day liquor licenses due to the "no gathering mandate." I'll let you know how it goes. Keep your fingers crossed! Hang in there everyone, be safe and do whatever you can to keep your heart happy during this very difficult time. I miss you!
