FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 2020 55 Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time. And here we are in the midst of California's biggest Covid-19 outbreak to date. Our lodges are all closed for our own protection, which we fully support. Yet we miss our friends and miss playing the games we love (tennis, cards, billiards, ping pong, etc.) I ran into one of the Billiards for Fun Group members the other day, and had to think really hard to remember their name! (Uh-oh!) Another member, Dave Martin, stopped me a few days ago as he was driving past, and I was walking, and asked for "directions to the billiards room." Thinking fast (which I normally don't do), I told him "it was dusty, with cobwebs everywhere, and probably growing moss as well, so stay away until further notice." I'm not sure if he believed me or not, but if you're reading this, Dave, I was kidding. It's still there, dust- free, cobweb-free and moss-free (I verified it!). The room just misses the people who frequent it. Yeah. We miss it too. Everyone please stay well — wear your mask, wash your hands, and social distance. This is an unusual and scary time, but we are strong and resilient. Soon it will be "games as usual," and we'll forget all about these months of deprivation. I hope. Be safe! ~ Eileen Gilbert-Antoine, egcellent@msn.com Billiards for Fun Wild Bunch Billiards Unfortunately, the curtain has come down on our "live" show in the Billiards Room. Due to the Corona Beast continuing to wreak havoc, we have had to close the Billiards Room for the time being. We want to thank you for adhering to the Guidelines and making the Billiards room a safe and healthy environment for the limited time we were able to enjoy a small piece of normalcy. The "Wild Bunch" consists of some of the best players in the league: Joe Spinella, Lucas Don, Robert Howard, Bob Rector, Mike Corbett, Carlos Rivera, LeRoy Wright, Rocket Spinosa, and Gracy Luna. Once this beast has died and the crisis is over, if you want to play serious, competitive pool, we invite you to come by the Billiards Room and join in the stimulation of competitive play. We will keep you updated on when we can safely go into the Billiards Room, which we are hoping will be sooner than later! In conclusion, Practice does NOT make Perfect… Practice makes Permanent. Perfect Practice makes Perfection Permanent. ~ Gracy Luna, gracyluna@aol.com With the coronavirus threat bringing everything to a halt, this will be my generic Breeze article until things get back to normal again and I have something to write about. Our club has 16 members with an average of 10 players participating each week. We have relaxed rules about throwing distances, pretty much where you are comfortable throwing, so everyone can participate and have fun. We have Quarterly Tournaments both Singles and Doubles with the winners' pictures being included in the Breeze. We have quarterly social events, which consist of dinner at The Kopper Kettle Bistro at 5 pm followed by dessert at one of our member's homes. This gets our spouses and significant others involved and makes for a fun evening of fellowship and camaraderie. We usually cap the evening off with a rousing game of LCR (left/center/right). We're always looking for new members, so while you are hunkered down in your homes for the next several weeks, be thinking about joining us. We meet at The Summit every Wednesday at 9 am, fall through spring, and 8 am in the summer. Our contacts are Ron Erickson at (951) 846-3288, rejlerickson@ sbcglobal.net or Gary Christie at (951) 845-0520, goldtoy@ earthlink.net. ~ Ron Erickson Horseshoe Club
